LG V30 Leaks and Rumors

Should the next LG V30 feature a removable battery?

Instead of all glass I'd love to see LG go with titanium and stick with removable batteries. That'd be a unique attraction for me.

I would like to see that as well...
If we are gonna pay a premium price for a device, then use materials (such a titanium) which produces a quality build and feel, and are definitely worth the price we pay...

A removable battery is always a win in my book.

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

I have only owned one glass backed phone and I killed it just 5 days into my second billing cycle. Glass is the worst material to use for ANY portable device. I hate sealed non-removable batteries just as much coupled with todays battery capacity capabilities and power hungry designs. Compared to the V20 or even V10, there is very little about the G6 (north american version) that appeals to me.

A very skilled machinist probably could fabricate a Titanium case-back / battery door for the V20. One of the nicest features of the removable casebacks from a few years ago were the custom options.

What did LG said about the V lines? What's their focus?

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

Let's hope the G series is for the average everyday American and the V series is for the true Android power user. Don't think the V series will sell well if they made it all glass, it wouldn't fit their demographics.

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

I sure hope not!!! The metal detachable back works really fine. And the release mechanism works great. The V20 is not for everyone, I get that. It meets a certain need...a neiche, if you will. But it appeals to a very sizeable part of the market. It's great to be able to replace a dead battery without having to plug in somewhere. It's fantastic that there are extended batteries available that work great and last two days or more without a charge. And, in it's stock verson (without extended battery), it's a very solid phone. I see all these manufacturers going to a "solid" glass body and taking away these options. What rule is there that every phone has to be the same? Whatever happened to making what you already have better with each new iteration? I love my V20 and I won't "upgrade" to a V30 if it has a solid glass body. Look, LG is never going to outsell Samsung or Apple, I don't care how much they want to. But they can solidify their place in the upper echelon of manufacturers simply by making each iteration of their phones better. Plus, what happens when you drop that glass phone and the back cracks? Take it back for repair/replacement? And don't give me that "I'll put a case on it" crap. You want the look of the glass, but you're willing to hide it under a case? You want it to be waterproof? Then keep it in your pocket and be careful about yakking/texting when you're around water. Stay frosty, LG!

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

I hope it is all glass. As fragile as possible. I never drop my phone so I'm not worried. People need to learn to take care of expensive things.

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

I can't see needing anything the V20 doesn't already have so the V30 will probably not be on my list. I hope I still feel that when the V30 is released, however if they go to glass backs then I'm out for certain.

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

Why do people want glass phones in the first place? Glass = fragile.

Wrong... I AM VERY CAREFULL with all my things. In fact I was being extra careful with my sony Z3V when I killed its glass after 35 days. I just took a wrong step up and out of my garage, with my phone in my hand and that caused it to break. I was not in a hurry or doing anything careless. My phone didn't even drop or fall... it broke in my hand.

If that's all it takes for glass to break, then its a completely unsuitable material.

Wrong... you do not need glass to achieve Qi charge capabilities.

Did I say you NEED glass? Nope ;). I just simply stated as to why they are using it. Sure it can be achieved with other materials but they decided on glass since it will work and it makes the phone "look nice" for most.

I would offer up that some people will buy it for the wireless charging even though it doesn't have to be glass. There are those who buy it for the cosmetic factor. Obviously IPhones don't offer wireless charging and people buy it for asethics and some for the fact that's it's an iphone.

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

... and thats the crux of the problem. The industry is driven not by better design and material, but by consumer trend. Rather than refine the types of plastics, resins, mold material designs... they simply follow the crowd, abandon things outright and the end result is fragile / incapable materials. Admittedly though they are pretty!!

LG should partner with Glock (like they did ESS) to design an LGV20 case back from their firearm "plastic".

I always liked some of the Motorola phones before Lenovo that had Kevlar backs with a very subtle rubber coating.

I thought the Hulk was just a comic but he appears to be real.

Remind me never to shake your hand.

Re: Will the V30 be made of all glass??

Yeah for real... All I did was stumble a little on a step, phone in hand, and reach out so I wouldn't fall... !bam! Before I even knew what happened, busted phone.
