Should the next LG V30 feature a removable battery?

Note 5 most certainly does not suck. Have you ever used one?

Yeah, it's great... except for the removal of the micro SD, sealed battery, no IR blaster. Most boring Note ever, though pretty looking.

Those first three things are the three things that made it the best Note ever made so far. The Note 8 should be better, mainly due to newer tech and despite bringing back the MicroSD slot. 64 GB base storage makes up for that a little bit. Both are made of glass, so that cancels. I definitely can't agree that it's a pretty phone, being made of glass and being a rectangle with physical buttons on the front and more rectangles on the back sorta kills any aesthetic and tactile appeal.

Re: The V30 rumoured battery: Disappointment or a non issue?

I'm sure there's a large number of people willing to pay a little extra for it. I did a poll vote and more than half wants it. They will make some money. Maybe keep the exact same design, except have the back pop off just to save on manufacturing cost. Samsung has another S8 variant called the S8 Active and it has a big fan base. Maybe make a carrier exclusive deal so they can bank on it? I know the G5 was a failure but the V20 was a good example.

People paying extra for a second model that sells relativity fewer numbers does not add up to sustainability in the market place. You can argue this point till the cows come home. LG made a business decision that you can't accept therefore they must be wrong does not equate.

The sales number will show. Who knows, maybe it'll be a best seller?

I too would rather have a flat Note 8 screen like the Note 5. How was no microSD a pro? I was struggling with my Galaxy S6 and the 32GB storage, had to leave out so much media. With Ultra HD video recording, expect 64GB storage to be eaten up. Oh and it's not actually 64GB, is more like 52GB.

You mean like every hard drive ever (not just in phones) due to formatting + some for the OS (otherwise it is just a blank disk)? Let's not split hairs on things that are very common knowledge and not a specific problem to a phone.

How was no microSD a pro?

The S6 and Note 5 brought Samsung's faster UFS for internal storage and got them to raise their minimum internal storage. And as we've previously discussed, internal is still faster, more stable, more secure and less confusing to the normal consumers.

Yep, was very disappointed that the Note 5 followed the same design as the S series and restricted features plus has continued that ever since. Still on my Note 4 which has been misbehaving recently, a slightly larger V20 with an AMOLED screen would have been ideal but clearly the market for functional, durable phones is too small against those who want flashy phones.

When I worked at Best Buy, the normal customers always had their storage full. MicroSD solves that problem. Some people don't have computers anymore, especially "normal people" and depend on their phone as their main computer.

BTW transferring between phones with microSD vs non-microSD was much easier when upgrading phones for customers. Backing up takes forever, and I accidentally erased someone's phone by accident. Micro SD would've made things simpler.

Cloud backup of photos/videos/contacts/events/texts/emails/documents/justabouteverything else also solves that first problem. There's no need to connect to a computer or any other device when setting up a phone. They set themselves up now with the same homescreen, apps, settings as the prior one.

Anyways, I'm not saying I don't understand why people would WANT removable storage. I'm saying that there are better solutions to solve the problems that they're trying to address with removable storage.

I'm saying 64GB without microSD isn't enough especially since the OS takes up 8 GB or more.

Depends from person to person. My Dad can't even fill up 16 GB... so ... yep :P.

I'm currently using 14 GB and the system takes up 9.2 GB. Between smart storage, free unlimited photo and video backup, using streaming for all content and not loading the device up with tons of games I know I won't play, keeping under 64 is easy. But again, there are 128 GB devices last year and this year, Apple is doing 256 GB... internal storage isn't an issue where "shortage" is a thing unless the consumer decides to cheap out.

So let me see if I understand what you are saying.... some people, especially normal people are ditching their computers for a phone as a main computer? I never heard that one before and I don't know anyone without a computer.

I've yet to have a phone "set itself up." I'm always having to make sure things are backed up, then manually download apps and go through their respective setup processes.

Would be nice if they did migrate easily, but I've yet to figure out how.

I don't recall which devices you use, but my most recent devices have all set themselves back to right

Some phones are better at it then others but there is always some kind of intervention required.

The V20. Before that was the LG G4, and before that the HTC One M8. So all flagship devices.

I go through the startup and once at the home screen all apps download. After that I open nova and restore from backup to put the apps back -- but the apps themselves are downloaded at that point from the initial setup.

That's very different from saying that the phone restores itself. Using a 3rd party launcher is not something that everyone does. With my SD card, I can back up homescreen and settings. Can't do that from the cloud if you don't want to use a 3rd.party app.
