Likelihood of getting first batch without preorder?

I was in my local tmo last night and the rep told me that they'll have plenty of stock for all 3 S20 models and preordering isn't necessary. He said I shouldn't give $650 for a down payment and then wait for an order. He said if I'm putting down that amount then I should hand over the money and be handed a phone to walk out with in return. He said Samsung stock at that location never sells out on launch day and Samsung takes care of them and always send plenty of supply. How hectic is it usually to get a samsung flagship on launch without a preorder?

They always have stock for stores as well as the pre-orders. I ly issue could be getting the exact color and storage option you want. The bonus of pre-order is the freebies and potentially getting the phone early.

I have no doubt you'll have no problem getting one first day of you want if you're in a decent market. I'm in Ft. Lauderdale so I don't expect issues. Pre-order just means you might get it a week earlier and they have been 'surprising' pre-order owners with that recently.

Honesty at this price point where a base + and a $1399 Ultra is more expensive than the chepeast 11 Pro $999 and $1099 for the Max Pro... And we are talking Pro with the 3 camera setup!

Android/Samsung fans like us might take the extra time to consider one of these, but the average Joe??...

"ooooh Marsha, the top of the line iPhone Max Pro with one more camera than the standard for $1099 is $300 cheaper than the Ultra and the Ultra doesn't have imessage and FaceTime to talk to our grandkids!"... You know what they are buying.
