[LINK][ROM]CM7 Thunderbolt.RC1.4 + 1.5.2 Updated 8/6/11

Something is draining my battery badly. Running CM7 1.5 with the GB RUU 704 radio. I have 4g and gps on but no wifi and no apps that need to sync often(just email and weather once an hour).

Im at 5h30min since unplugged(started at full charge) at 68% battery left with the display on for 18 minutes and 7 minutes of that playing angry birds. Cell standby 48%, phone idle 45%, display 4%, angry birds 3%, fancy widgets 2%.

So basically if I follow this trend Im getting about 16 hours of standby time with one hour of actual usage. If I was actually using my phone much today the battery would be dead in under 4 hours. That makes no sense at all to me. On stock my usable battery life wasnt great but if I didnt touch my phone it would go the entire day without using even 10% battery. That's with gps and 4g and syncing on. With CM7 it's like the battery is getting sapped regardless of whether I use my phone or not.

Any ideas?

I did a backup of my adw settings and desktop config on cm7 before going to PUR3AO5PTH3ORY 1.2.2x. When I did my restore my settings seemed to restore but not my desktop. Do you have good luck backing up and restoring? This is thru the stock adwlauncher that comes with the ROM, should I purchase EX to get better results?

Did you backup through Titanium before flashing and then restore? That should then restore your screens to your prior set up.

Edit : I use Go Launcher so maybe it is different...

Once I get to a computer I can help you more, but in the meantime try using an app called "2x battery" by sam lu, it turns off your mobile data when your screen goes off, so you will only be able to receive texts or phone calls and it will refresh every 15 minutes as needed

When you go under 'about phone' - 'battery use', what does it look like?

also, GPS is a huge battery killer. on any rom....

when you flashed this ROM, what it a fresh flash, did you start from scratch or flash over CM7 1.4?

I posted the battery use percentages. I know gps sucks up battery life but I havent used anything on my phone that uses gps aside from weather. I've never had an issue with gps sucking up battery unless it's actually being used(like google maps or navigation).

I installed 1.5 over 1.4, only wiped dalvik/cache. Maybe thats the issue.

My bad.. I read through your post to quick and didn't realize you posted it...

very well may be the case.... The OP states that unless you do a FULL wipe then we cant really help yet... let me know if you do decide to do a full wipe and if that helps...

It's a pain but sometimes there is no substitute for a full wipe before installing.

Re: [LINK][ROM] CM7 for Thunderbolt. RC1.4 Updated 7-29 11:20PM E

LOL... sorry, but most us are just here to help others... and use these ROMs... we are not the programmers. The Facebook app will not sync Facebook's Calendar... Sense must use a custom Sync to get this to work.

Awesome. Yeah, I was just wondering if I was missing something. Thanks for the reply!

Here, is mine. What I'm thinking is maybe the wake/sleep policy. Notice that even when the screen is off, it keeps waking up in very small intervals...then again, maybe this is normal. Forgive the noob if I brought up old news :)

I have a question, I dont know if you guys are seeing the same thing, but...

I just installed the new CM7 RC1.5.2, but in my "about phone" under "Mod version"
it sayd CyanogeMod-7.1.0-RC1-Thunderbolt

I dont want to be that guy complaining about if it says the right version or not. I am just interested in making sure I have the correct version (CM7 RC1.5.2).

Let me know if you guys have the same thing, I am probably worrying about something stupid.

Thanks

Unfortunately, that is a known bug with this ROM...

Hey quick question sorry if it's been answered before. I'm using cm7 and handcent for my texts. Is there a way to turn off the stock messaging app? I don't want two notifications every time for one text

Open the stock app and change settings to turn off notifications.

Well, I bit the bullet and tried this again - the latest. So far, things seem well.

Wireless Tether works now (yay) and GPS is behaving. But will test when I leave the office.

Just getting used to the different interface.

Also, using the 1.39.00.0627r radio.

Do I need any other kernels and/or different radio?

So far, me likes.

The Tiamat V1.04 Kernel is a popular kernel that I use and the OP. He posted a link to it in the OP if you want to try it.
