List of Differences Between 2.1 and 2.2

There is a setting for Automatic in the Power Widget for screen brightness. It is the icon with an A in it.

Seem to have lost the ability to control the Contact Name sort order to Last Name, externally (I use Companionlink for Google). That was working fine for me on 2.1

I suspect it is a Motorola software problem, based on a previous response by Matt on the Moto user forum, that the Contacts on Droid 2 with Froyo do actually display as First Name Last Name, but the data is sorted in Last Name order, which would be perfect for me on the DX.

This is a very large disappointment for me.

Not only that but it keeps popping up in the list of running programs, along with CityID, when I had a task killer program on.

Why is it that Microsoft had their pants sued off for bundling Internet Explorer and their online service and not allowing people to uninstall them and Verizon is getting away with essentially doing the same exact thing??

Not seeing this problem, and quite frankly your atk is probably causing the problem.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you are a root user, Titanium Backup's "Freeze" function beats the hell out of trying to kill apps all the time. I have all the stock apps and blur widgets frozen. They're disabled. Gone, for all intents and purposes. Poof. No problems. So totally worth it.

i havent used task kill yet today, DX performance hasn't lagged yet, and battery is still at 100% @ 11:05am been off of charger since 8:30am-

Don't trust the battery indicator. My phone hasn't charged in the last 9 hours because of the 3rd party battery block and "Battery level" still says 100%. I'm sure that's not true. "Battery status" says "unknown" and the top bar just has a dark gray battery with a "?" in it.

It was a red light not green like a message and it turned off when I unplugged the charger.

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

only time i ever get the red light special is when my battery is 5% or less....

im using this app which uses the System %'s-
2.2 still uses 10% increments on the DX...

Battery Left Widget - Android app on AppBrain

resolution

did anyone notice a resolution change or anything? I think my screen icons seems larger. but it might just be me.

Sms app now has auto delete after a set amount.

I too got the charging light while phone was off.

Sd card no longer automatically remount after formatting it.

-Google chats now show up on the phone...even if you are chatting on the desktop version of the app.
-Hold down the HOME button and you now get 8 of the most recently used apps (up from 6 on version 2.1)
-Revised (darker) colors for ANSWER and IGNORE sliders when phone is locked.

Opened up Task Killer, 19 apps running, 48 available memory, haven't killed any since the 2.2 load to test the Froyo on board app manager.
Went on some web sites to test out the flash then opened up the TK to find that now there is 146 available memory.
Froyo Task Manager is doin work in the background making sure that the Experience is at most fast and fluid-

I've noticed in the default text messaging client that you can no longer quickly scroll your message, you can only bring up the magnifying window and scroll the message with that.

Another minor difference, when you get a notification while listening to music, the notification sound will play instead of the music (like it used to) but now the music will pause and resume after the notification sound, it used to continue playing "behind" the notification sound. Also the notification sound now does the same thing to the FM radio, whereas it used to just play over it.

See this is annoying to me... My Storm did this... and it drove me crazy:mad: I actually really appreciated the sounds playing on top of the music.

I agree, I always have something on at work and now I'll have to keep the phone on vibrate.

Not a huge deal, but definitely annoying.

1: Under settings, "Sounds & Display" is now two separate sub-menus.
2: USB debugging icon changed from an orange triangle to a little bug.
3: Under "Sound," there are more vibrate options
4: New ringtones (?)
5: Ringtones seem louder
6: On the lock screen, sliding the phone into silent mode will now allow the phone to vibrate. It used to put it into silent mode, without vibrate.
7: Is "Screen lock sounds" new?
8: I wonder if they fixed that bug with "Smart Profile: Face Down" that bricked some users' phones. Not brave enough to test.
9: In 2.1, when I charged by computer, it would automatically put phone into USB Mass Storage, even if "Charge Only" was last profile used (it would even show "Charge Only" radio button selected, but actually be in mass storage mode). Now, behavior seems correct.
10: It is smart about when to have keypad displayed for phone calls. Calls to friends, no. Calls to 611, yes.

No longer have the option for all notifications off. Quietest sound profile is listed as Sound Off, but the vibrate still functions. Before there were separate options for silent and vibrate.
