One more problem, since update to Froyo my weather is set to geolocation and shows me in Charlotte, NC which is 100 miles away. Any suggestions.

Connection issues with wifi still on my phone. I get the "web page unavailable" screen using wifi in my house still.

if you have a hotmail account setup as imap or exchange you will get a new mail notification even when mail goes to your junk mail folder.

Praise:
Somewhat better battery life.
Somewhat faster processing I believe.

Problems:
Music player still periodically stops
Can't find stock music player widget
Homescreen refresh rate still glacier slow often.

Have you looked into Mortplayer's app? I never messed with the stock player but Mortplayer is free and you can download a pretty slick widget for it. It's also great for audiobooks...

Got the update Monday afternoon (3/28)...only problem I have is I have to do a battery pull to turn on WiFi. Then I can only turn it once after the pull but after that I can't turn it back on. Any ideas? I'm not rooted.

I've had the same issue since EB13, and it wasn't fixed with EC05. I also had to reset the phone until I finally realized I could go into the Settings\Wireless and Network\Wi-Fi Settings to get this working again. It will most likely say "error" underneath Wi-Fi. Just select the checkbox and it should turn on.

In other news, I've been having the following errors since EB13 that were not fixed in EC05:

- occasionally when I nav back to the home screen none of the apps show up for about 10-15 seconds (usually happens if I have multiple apps open and I'm using the home button to switch back and forth quickly)

- as mentioned above wi-fi occasionally won't turn on when selected (workaround also mentioned)

- text messages don't clear from the dropdown until I scroll up the message window a bit, or select the Clear button (I believe someone else also mentioned this one here).

- Reeeeally slow screen rotation, even with only a few apps open. Occasionally I have to slide the keyboard out to get it to switch to landscape mode.

- SD card memory doesn't always get updated after I remove files. My 16GB is pretty full, with shows/music so I have to unmount/remount the card through the settings (was originally rebooting the phone).

I honestly don't have too many praises right now for either update...EB13 turn my pretty decent phone into a PITA, and EC05 didn't fix jack all. I'm now looking for an app that will not only backup my other apps, but I can use it to restore the settings as well (and scores, since between my son and I we've ripped into numerous games!). Then I do a wipe, and start over. If it's still craptastical, I'll go the root route.

The thing wont connect as it did back in eclair. Does not connect to my Macbook through USB Mass storage.

Hi. I just signed up. I bought Epics for both myself and my wife in November 2010 and have been waiting for Froyo ever since.

Changes I've noticed that have not been mentioned:

1. The device does not stay on (unlocked) when on the charger anymore. Screen timeout used to be disable when on the charger, but apparently not anymore.

2. The vertical scrollbar that used to be on the right of the browser no longer shows. It's difficult to see how far into a screen (like on a forum with many posts) I am.

3. Vlingo SafeReader is losing its "on" setting after reading a text or email. The icon in the notification bar is still green, but when opening the app it shows as disabled. I like the app for reading my emails and text msgs to me.

Just found another one with the update. The music player it turns out, is crap. It will play for a while, then it decides to stop playing in the middle of the song. It doesn't close, just stops playing. And that is pretty annoying.

Have any of you spoken to Sprint about problems with the update? I just got off the phone with advanced tech support and they told me that the latest update from Samsung was corrupted and that they are working on (yet) another update for the Epic.

If this is true, I have never seen a more incompetent bunch. And, don't let me start in on Sprint.

Lol... I don't know about the rest of your complaints but this one is a FIXED bug. it's not supposed to be disabled when plugged in.

I have a strange issue. Emails that were already on my account (Yahoo) prior to upgrade, some are now showing the incorrect subject. It will say one subject, but when I open it, there is a different e-mail. It is really strange. Doesn't seem to be happening to any new e-mails, just the pre-existing ones. Any ideas?

LOL back at you! I didn't know it was a bug... I liked it that way!

Also, I wouldn't characterize my points as complaints -- they were simply observations.

EC05 has been functionally great for me, but battery life has been sporadically horrible. Some days I get great battery life, and some days it drains like crazy.

It used to be that the "battery use" info screen would show a bunch of items, but it just shows some system things now (of which Display is always a high percentage). So now I can't really tell which process is draining the battery.

Spare Parts is of some help in showing CPU time, etc. But nothing there immediately strikes me as the culprit.

Something really strange I noticed today is that processes keep coming to life on their own - I started using EStrong task manager to see everything that was running on the phone, and very frequently, there's processes that I haven't launched. sprint Nav, google maps, gtasks, dropbox, etc that I know I haven't launched, or that I've killed already, are showing up again.

So now I'm thinking it's not a single app that's causing my battery problems, but rather the fact that many different apps are running when they're not supposed to be.

Has it been this way since Froyo and I just haven't noticed??

I rely on my alarm to wake me up but it turns off and I wake up (late) to finding out that it didn't ring because its shut off and charging. Does anyone else have this problem? I also notice that my epic sometimes freezes,where the screen would go blank and the keys would be lit. I would have to soft reset, and sometime pull the battery.

No explanation for you on this... I can say this I was tipped off last night by a very good source (not a visitor or Sprint rep), that we should be seeing yet another OTA update to fix more issues with EC05.

It is not confirmed at this point if it will be a full OS update or a patch.

Came from stock DI18 with OTA update. I've not seen this issue reported yet.
1. Default calendar setting -resets to My Calender after set to Google calender; can be reproduced by powering off & back on. Even better, open calendar settings-default calendar-set to Google calendar-OK-select ringtone-set to anything but silent-OK-return to default calendar (it is reset to "my calendar")-return to ringtone (it is reset to silent); Great, a completely nonfunctional calendar, one of the main reasons I have a smart?phone! This is completely reproducible on my phone, even after syncing calendar & power off-on cycle. Also does this if you exit calendar, open any app & then return to calendar settings. It appears that those settings (at least) are not saved.
2. Calender notification settings ringtone resets to silent after being set to a ringtone -completely unacceptable. Not reproduced by power off-on cycle. (See #1 above). Very reproducible

3. Screen refresh is very slow at time after closing or opening keyboard -unpredictable.
Has anyone else had this issue? Try it out,please!
