OMG, I'd be a basket case! Try a total shut down, then restarting it. I did that a few times with my Note phone when something got flaky and it fixed things back to normal. Let me know if that doesn't work. I'd like to be sure of a solution before it happens to me! Think of it as crisis prevention in my case! Just thought of something, are you using the regular Samsung Spen that came with it? Occasionally if I try to use the Note phone Spen with it, it seems to trigger odd recognition problems unless I start with the Tablet's Spen and then I can switch to the phone's.
Edit for - Just thought of something else, under the main settings, click on Spen and there's a list of options for what the tablet will do when the pen is removed, you might try the options after detaching pen and setting it to none. Just a thought..... let me know how it goes!

Unfortunately no luck. Letting it sit powered off for a while. Tried setting it to none with s pen removal. As for the pen its just the one that came with the tablet. It is bothering me only thing I can think of is I had my other galaxy tab 10.1 on top of it on the nightstand the other night and the book cover has a magnet and that may have affected the sensor might just need to let it disipate over time Ill keep you updated

could be. Try the restart option/power off. All else fails back up your data and do a factory reset as a last resort. Its called "backup and reset". That might fix it

I had a problem with a magnetic catch on my note phone! It created a dead zone. I got rid of the magnet but every now and then that area still gets odd, the lines will get real thin or it'll skip and not write at all. Sometimes after about 15 minutes it's okay again. GET RID OF THE MAGNET!

Okay it's been away from the other tablet and case for hours still noluck, factory reset no luck getting a bit p.oed i dont want to have to get it replaced already.

Oh lordy, si! Have you tried calling Samsung Tech support? (1-800-726-7864)

My Note cover has 2 magnets in it. They're not causing any problems for me.

Also, I have read that the official Samsung Book Cover for the Note 10.1 has a magnet in it, too. I won't know for sure until I get home in a week and finally get to play with the one that's waiting there for me. But, assuming it does, I'd say that pretty much confirms (to me, anyway) that magnets around the Note are not a problem.

Unfortunately i think i have to go replacement route, as nothing I have tried is working. Boo to that.

Well I first contacted Samsung as it was past Amazon's 30 day return window, they wanted to have me send it in for service and I was like no way its 33 days old lightly used I am not sending it in for refurb. So I call Amazon and with a little prodding they agreed to replace it with a new one. I have to give Amazon credit for stepping up, but was a bit miffed at first since its a brand new product and you would figure one of them would have stepped up right away.

I dont think it was the magnet since it wasnt localized. Just thought it might be a possibility and Samsung seemed stumped.
