On my Note 2 I had shortcut apps on my lock screen and I have seen You Tube videos of Note 3 having them but I don't see the option to have them on my Note 3. Is this something Verizon blocked?

There is not a way to change them on the stock lock screen. I believe there are lock screen apps that may allow for different short cuts/icons.

You need to set the screen security to swipe. If you are using pattern or anything else you won't be able to use shortcuts

I couldn't find a way, but thought that I would ask anyway. I may download another lock screen app so that I can customize my shortcuts. That is what I love about android, if you do not like something like not being able to change the lock screen shortcuts, you can download an app for it.

This I hate. also the fact that there is no way to have a lock passcode. and also have the swipe to unlock. since i like to have a 20 minute timer for the password.

This is indeed true. And yes you can change the lock screen shortcuts. You click where the the toggle for "Lockscreen Shortcuts" on the word instead of the toggle
