Lock screen widgets with security PIN enabled?

Hi guys--received my GS4, tinkering around right now, but does anyone know how to enable lock screen widgets with a security PIN enabled? I seem to be able to have one or the other but not both, and it's driving me nuts.

My exchange email requires a PIN.

If it's like the S3, go into Settings / Lock screen and check the "With swipe lock" box. You'll now have TWO lock screens to work through, but will be able to put widgets on the first one.

No luck there. It seems as though with a PIN/Pattern enabled, lock screen widgets are disabled; the only ones accessible are the music controls (if music is playing) and the default Samsung time..

Same problem, Multiple Widgets option is only available when you select Swipe in the Screen Lock section. Seems like a step backwards from the S3. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Guys, widgets on the lockscreen BYPASS security, period. If you choose to have a secure lockscreen (either by choice or because your Mail/Work/VPN demands it), widgets are out. Period. This is not something they 'broke', it's something they're fixing.

It's like locking your house but leaving a huge window open by the door.

They should give us the option, at least to some basic functions. On my iPhone, with its very basic/minimal customizability, I can still choose what shows and does not show on the lockscreen, and I have access to my camera. Even Siri is accessible and turned off if desired. As it is, I cannot even quickly take a picture, which would likely mean I'd miss spontaneous moments for capture.

I get that it's "secure," but there's a difference between what I allow to show on the lock screen and giving access to all my information. It's controlled.

Hey you guys are all wrong.

Go to securtiy choose swipe then turn on the widgets and shortcuts, then go back and turn on pattery and it will work

Also to access the other widgets from lock screen you have to swipe the life companion area at tope from right to left. it works

Something doesn't add up ... I have the S4 and I am unable to get Multiple Widgets on the Lock Screen with a PIN. I also have a Nexus 4 where Multiple Widgets work with a PIN. Samsung's implementation is certainly different than the stock 4.2.2

i do it and it works fine. you have to slide the life companion section from right to left. It totally works for me. I change what i want for the lock screen whiile security is set to swipe only then i change it to pattern. and it all works

This will vary depending on your carrier's implementation, but IMHO it SHOULD NOT WORK with secure lockscreens. I don't care if iPhone does it, it doesn't mean it's right. If you're setting up a lockscreen with some level of security, then that layer should be cleared to access anything in your phone. I stick to my house analogy; you lock your entire house, you don't lock the living room and leave an open door to the rest of the house.

While I understand that this is your perspective, I feel that unless the IT department specifying security parameters bans lock screen access to widgets, then it should be up to the discretion of the user about what information is available. And beyond that, the security is used by average consumers too, which I'm sure you know; this just discourages people from using security if it's not mandated. And Samsung essentially removed one of the hallmark features of 4.2 by blocking this; the Nexus 4 and even GS3 do this perfectly.

I think a better analogy is locking the house but leaving the curtains open; you get a peek inside without having to unlock the damn door. Basic things like my to-do list, DashClock, etc. are not particularly sensitive data...should be accessible while allowing me to secure my full device.

Same problem... more annoying thing is that unlike S3- S4 doesnt have the option to enable a SCREEN LOCK(pattern/pin/password lock) along with the swipe lock. Not sure why this option has been removed. I am not liking my phone prompting for a pin/pattern when I just want to look at the clock on the home screen hitting the home button.

Can't please everyone, this proves :P hehe but hey, there's always custom ROMs, right? That's the beauty and demise of Android.

I am able to have widgets on my lock screen.

you have to disable the pin so that it will enable you to choose shortcuts on and choose what apps you want to appear on your lock screen
