Lollipop update without a SIM

Hey guys! Quick question: Has anyone of you updated a Moto X (2014) to Lollipop WITHOUT a SIM in the phone?

I have a review unit, but I don't want to cut my SIM or buy a new one as my regular phone uses micro SIM.

I did an Odin update on my T-Mobile Note 3 to Lollipop without my SIM card and it worked fine. I was told that it would mess up Wifi calling if I wasn't going to do a full wipe.

Most carriers will give you a SIMs the size you need for free.
