Hi all!

After my old ipod classic died, i've been looking for a substitute, but withou success.

However, I think that a more than valid solution would be to get an android phone and install a player app such as media monkey or similar.

Now I would need your help to find the right phone:

- Budget, under 150€/$
- Smallest possible
- Longest battery

I would mostly play mp3 with occasional FLAC files. The phone qould be used almost exclusively for music.

Thanks a lot for the help!

If you have any older phones sitting in a drawer, this would be a good use for them.

I use an LG V20....the audio output is superb

id buy a refurb'd ipod. my lod 80g is still kicking for 15 yrs its sound quality cant be beat.

One of the alternative that I can suggest to you aside from Smartphone will be Fiio X1. It is one of the budget-friendly MP3 players on the market nowadays.

Are you still looking?
I have an HTC 10 I can part with. Expandable storage. With poweramp, it's great. Only negativeis there is a dent in the volumn rocker, but it still works fine. Any device with expandable storage would be the way to go. Even look at swappa.

I use an old Nokia feature phone as a dedicated mp3 player.

In the UK and probably in other countries, you need to be aware that any phone you use will still be able to contact the emergency services even without a sim card inserted, so lock the keypad.

An older LG or HTC with a good DAC sound like great options.
Also a Nokia 6 series from 2017 or early 2018 are good options.
