Looks like I might be returning the G6 afterall (Update: Keeping it -- issue fixed)

Re: Looks like I might be returning the G6 afterall

I had call issues 2 days after I got the G6. I too thought it was a faulty unit, but I didn't jump the gun.

Did a little research and asking around on the carrier section and it turns out that a local tower was the culprit.

A helpful guy named Kevin from AT&T was able to follow up on my issue.

Beware of Otterbox

So on a whim I tried the phone again without a case. I think the OtterBox interfered with calls. If that's the "case"...I just might keep the phone.

What I find perplexing is that since you got the G6, you've been on here shouting from the rooftops how great it is, chiming in on random threads just to say it's great, calming other fears about shortcomings, and expressing how much you liked it.
Now, one issue pops up, and you are planning to return it for good because you say you don't need it? Just find that an odd progression.

This.

It's not odd if you find out that call quality isn't good and you're in the 14 day window to return it. Turns out it was probably the case I had interfering.
It is though. The typical reaction would be return/replace for someone that likes the device. Not return and use your old phone because you don't need a new phone.

Hey am I the only one with multiple devices? I don't think so. It's more a hobby than a need. Boy people at Android forums can be nasty...not all but some.

Sorry to hear it's not working right; I concur an exchange might be a good idea.

I don't think anyone means to be "nasty" I think they are just questioning. I know if I came off as nasty I apologize.

Its the same at any forum. You're going to find some people intentionally come off as rude and others unintentionally do so. At the end of the day though, its your money to decide what to do with.

I think what some were questioning was, what seemed to be a drastic change of opinion over something that could most likely be resolved.

Either way, your money, your choice.

Re: Looks like I might be returning the G6 afterall

People can do whatever they want with their phones... you might love a phone up and down, but if it fails to do something critical, that feeling can change... My wife had zero complaints about her S7 Edge... everything from battery life to camera quality, she loved. Then it stopped saving pics randomly, which turned out to be a somewhat pesky bug in Samsung's software that other people are experiencing and isn't something that we can fix, even with a new phone. So that became a MAJOR issue that overshadowed everything good about the phone and ultimately caused me to get her into a G6.

Now... if the OP ran into an issue that she suspected was a problem with the phone and turned out to be an external issue, well, then we can help flesh that out and possibly resolve it. But if someone changes their mind based on new information, I'm sorry, but I - for one - am not going to allow others to give her a hard time over it.

If I've learned anything in life I've learned there really is no typical. Ultimately we all make the choices we make for the reasons we make them. Not because they are the reasons we should make them for the sake of being mainstream.
The thought of being typical makes me want scream Iphone or Galaxy.

It's worse in camera and car forums

Re: Looks like I might be returning the G6 afterall

It's a public forum. Like in any other public group setting, some people you like, some get on your nerves, and then tolerate the rest. Discussions are fine and raising points and having differences of thought and opinion has nothing to do with being nasty. Now YouTube and Twitter comments, that is nasty.

Re: Looks like I might be returning the G6 afterall

I definitely wasn't being nasty, but you seemed to take offense when people were wondering why you made such an abrupt about face. You didn't give much of a 'Why' aside from finding a bug in your device and throwing in the towel. It's like buying a new car, getting a flat, and deciding to sell it because of it. For most, that line of reasoning just leads to questions.

As others have said, your money and your phone, so do what you wish. I was just looking for more background on why you decided to return it.

Yeah well this forum is awesome and I was just frustrated about this issue because call quality is important to me.
