Lose charge quickly once unplugged?

Do you see the quick drop in battery %?

Just wondering if everyone is experiencing this. Does your incredible lose the first 5-10% of its charge within 20 minutes of unplugging regardless if you use it or not?

I know about the bump charge method, Im just trying to understand if this is being seen on all devices or if its random.

thanks.

I turn my phone off at nite, to charge. I think this makes the difference in how well the phone charges and holds a charge.

It happens to me all the time unless I do the bump charging. It's quite annoying. I use the phone as my primary number, so turning the phone off at night really isn't feasible for me.

dude unplug your phone when you wake up check ur email text ect ect then plug it back in while your getting ready to work or school.. by the time you unplug it your phone will stay at 100%.... your phone doesn't stay charging the whole night. at one moment it just runs on stand by mode

The HTC manual mentions something about the charge stopping when the battery gets too hot. Maybe that causes it to not charge fully?

Doesn't work for me. Still get a drop when unplugged shouldn't have too do a rain dance to charge my phone

With my stock battery my phone (without a bump charge) would drop to 92% within about 10 minutes of being unplugged, rather I used it or not. If I did jump right on it and use it, it went to that percent faster.

With my 1750 Seidio I haven't seen the same thing happening.

This is what I do,and has made a difference for me. After 8 hrs. at work moderate use I am at 70%,this is with listning to my music ,mail,3g internet.

I recently had a battery drain in my Android Tablet, which I think I found out was from an application. So, I ditched it, and I seem to not be losing power when it is completely off. However, I still find this oddness...

When the tablet is plugged in, it seems to be charging, however, if I unplug the charger, the battery life instantly drops about 3%. Is that normal? Is something causing that to happen, which shouldn't be?

That drop is normal for LiOn batteries. What is happening is that once the battery is charged, the unit will run off the battery and not the wall power. It will remain "full charge" until it hits a threshold and then re-charge from the wall again. However when you take it off the charger it realizes - oops I'm not 100% and drops to its actual charge. A 3 - 9 % drop in the first few minutes is normal.

makes sense

It is a known issue with this and older HTC phones. They choose this charging profile over one where the phone runs off the wall power for reasons known only to their engineers. If you look far enough back in the archives here you will find many an old abandoned thread that discussed this issue and long arguments about what is good and isn't for the batteries. Personally if I know I am going to be somewhere without a charger available I will bump charge otherwise I run it down to less than ten percent and plug it in. You get used to the battery life after a while or you go and buy a bigger battery or two.

Mine is losing charge quickly also. I plan to try bump charging it tonight/tomorrow to see if it makes a difference. Otherwise, I plan to return to the store and exchange it. I really don't want a different kind of phone; this is the one that I want. Other than the phone not holding the charge, I really like this phone.

Hey ipodgirl - Welcome to AC.

A drop of up to 10% or so is normal for li-on batteries. See my explanation above. The longer the phone has been on the charger at "full" the bigger the drop. At 90% the battery will top off the charge again. I usually take mine off the charger when I get up, check Email and stuff then put it on the charger while I'm taking a shower and it's fully topped off.

Enjoy your new phone.

Thanks!! I will definitely try what you have suggested. My mom wants me to take it back and see if I can get a different one, but I would rather just try the interventions that have been posted and see what happens. She has the Droid X (I think she wants me to get one of those), but I like the Incredible 2. How many hours do you normally keep it on the charger overnight? I usually go to bed at 10 and get up at 5, so those are the times I would be plugging it in and then taking it off the charger (total of 7 hours). How long does yours stay topped off when you do it that way?

7 hrs is plenty long for the overnight charge - the top off while taking a shower will help.

Would it be worth the money to buy one of those extended batteries? I keep wondering if that would do any good.
