Losing Interest In 3 XL

Do you have a clue why they wouldn't add features to it ?

I spoke to Barney Google himself about adding those features but he just looked at me funny and walked away. He's getting old.

I know one thing.. i'll be glad once Oct 9th gets here. I feel like we've been debating this generation of Pixels for the past 6 months. I swear, the dramatics surrounding this brand are something else!!

It's only going to get worse after release. Having said that, there's drama in every section though but it does seem like Pixel is the one to hate...lol. At least we have some great moderation here so it doesn't get too heated. The blogs are brutal if already haven't noticed.

That's one ridiculously ugly azz huge notch underspecced phone that I'm sure they're going to be asking WAYY to much money for. Either they're pulling off the sales hype of the century, and are going to introduce a totally different phone and sell a boatload of them instantly, or they've made one of the biggest smartphone design blunders in history, and are going to struggle to sell those low spec abominations.

Their only saving grace might be the smaller pixel 3, which at 5.5 inches is actually the perfect size for a lot of people.... and NO notch. And if it's priced right that could make up for the weak specs compared to the competition.

I was really expecting more from Google......a lot more :-(

Yeah I'm only interested in the smaller Pixel 3 after all the disappointing 3 XL leaks. If the Pixel 3 is priced right, it could be a great phone.

Of course there are still questions about screen quality, battery life, how the single rear camera holds up against the competition etc. I don't think I'll pull the trigger at release, I'll wait for the reviews to come in, probably try one out at my local telco and then decide. Plenty of great phone options in 2018, if Google want my money, they need to step it up.

Weird... why?

Well for one I expected them to be a little more in touch with their customer base.....and the pixel 2's were much more in line I think with what pixel owners wanted in a phone.... me included ;-) That gigantic notch is really over the top, and if they plan on pricing these phones similarly to Apple and Samsung's flagships, 4 gigs of RAM and 64 and 128 gigs of storage with no sd card support just isn't going to cut it.

Even with those specs they can still be very good phones....... if the price is right :O My current original pixel has similar specs and it's a great phone, but I only payed $350 for it brand new. That's part of the reason it's a great phone. At $1000 it would be a very poor phone, because that would put it in a whole different league of competition...... although it was definitely worth more than I payed for it ;-)

I wanted to add that I really enjoy pixel phones and don't plan on owning anything else. I will NEVER pay the ridiculous prices Samsung are asking (which has caused a 20% drop in sales and caused them to start focusing more on the budget/mid-range phone segment.... you can do a quick Google search on that), and I'll never own an apple phone because of pricing and the fact they are always getting caught doing something to their older phones with updates to slow them down/take away features etc just to force folks to upgrade. Very shady company :-[ :-(

Pixels are for me because of the cameras, monthly security/maintenance updates, and os updates that are sent out when promised..... not a year later (if at all) for all the updates like Samsung, Moto, or most any other Android phone manufacturer I can think of. So don't get me wrong, I'm a huge pixel fan, just not of the pixel 3 leaks/possible prices and specs. Of course I'll still pick one up in a couple years super cheap and enjoy the hell out of it lol.

How are they not in touch with their customer base?
I have seen no evidence for or against that what they are putting out is out of alignment with what Pixel owners expect.

But the 3x is literally a 2x with an updated processor, wireless charging added and more screen real estate. All three of those things seem like improvements, so if you like the 2x, how is the 3x bad, when it nearly improves on a product you already like?

so in other news , how did you guys like my new case? Mario? Mike? didn't see no comments on it , I'm sad now((

It's everywhere, and I mean EVERYwhere.....you can't miss it. This particular thread is about it....... the majority don't like the huge screen eating notch on the 3xl. Folks liked the 2xl with minimal bezels, front firing speakers, and a very reasonable screen to body ratio....... without the ridiculously large notch. I'm surprised I even needed to bring it up ;-)

These threads and forums are not indicative of the actual market or the average consumer. I'd say if we were going by the threads alone here it might be split and not the majority. There are many on the fence and waiting to see the final product because the notch is not necessarily a deal breaker by itself. There are also many who complain about the notch that have no intention of buying a Pixel regardless of the notch.

Android forums are populated by the nerdiest 1% of the nerdiest 1% of the market. Every single person who has more than 50 posts on Android central is at least 3 standard deviations away from the mean, when plotting their excessive nerdiness compared to how much the actual market just doesn't care at all. We're not a market, and we're certainly not representative of The Market... we are outliers.

Well the Pixel is a small market phone to begin with, so we are not as small as we would be on a Samsung or Apple product. I was 100% going to get the Pixel 3 XL, but may have to stick with the 2 or go with the Note 9 when it goes on sale because of the notch, several other have said the same. And many popular YouTubers are hammering it as well. Again I will wait and see but i was 100% on board before and not so much now.

People will not buy it because of the notch... but some wont buy it because of the notch being so big.

Am I the only one with a Pixel XL who had been thinking about the Pixel 3XL, but then realized that the Pixel 3 might be fine because it has same screen size as the Pixel XL?

Wow, that's true! LOOL. If I do end up getting a Pixel 3-series phone, it'll certainly be the "smaller" 3.

My problem with the smaller phone is battery life... I have to charge the 2XL already at 5 on a work day... on home days it is fine, but work days it is not fine. LOL
