Love this phone but think I got a bad one.

So I spoke to tech support for about an hour trying to trouble shoot the problems. He said it's his first g4 call and kept asking me how the phone was. The last thing he did was have me factory reset and if i continue to have the flickering problems to just take it to the store. Friday will be my 14th day so I still have a few days.

FYI : he said there is a couple fixes coming out with the next couple of weeks. One to fix the sensitivity issues. And another to fix battery stat numbers cause apparently they are wrong. He said looks like there's a lot of updates coming our way.

Thanks for the update. I hope the agent is right and they do fix some of the issues with us Verizon users.

Have you seen the phone getting any better after factory reset?
My battery is a little better after reset last night but Google keyboard is lagging big time keeping up with my typing with the vibration on. Ugh, I'd hate to take this back too like S6 for battery and performance reasons :(

The battery hasn't gotten better but I haven't seen that weird screen flickering.

Have you tried a different keyboard?

I've tried swiftkey, google keyboard and lg's own keyboard. I miss letter every now and then and I had 0 issues like that on S6. Especially if I turn the vibrate on on google keyboard, I type k brd out of keyboard word, it's that bad. Did 2 more factory resets last night and it's the same. I plan on taking it back to Best Buy. Between that and my 360 not working with it..I'm quite disappointed :(

Are you using a different launcher to stock? I had poor battery life the first couple of days. Last night I decided to weed out apps I never use that come as stock (Evernote being one), ditched Nova Launcher, and arranged the stock launcher to my liking. I've also started using Lux instead on the stock auto brightness. Day 1 & 2 I was looking 12-15hrs, and currently on 71% after 8hr 8mins with 1hr 21min SoT. This time yesterday (same routine/usage - both work days) I was down to about 50% by now.

Whether any/all of the above are relevant, or whether - in my case at least - the battery just needed time to settle, I don't know, but may be worth something...

Just an aside...every time I call VZW about ANY issue, even issues with entire threads devoted to them, the customer service rep claims to have never heard of any (insert your phone here) having any issues. Either they're told to say that or they're utterly incompetent or both. Even in their own forum there is often thread many posts long documenting an issue yet reps have never heard of it. Once you get them off that nonsense the standard answers are to do a factory reset....and don't worry if you have a common problem (which they initially deny is common) there is an update coming to fix it. They know if you keep the phone for 2 weeks you're stuck with it. They're just shining you on.

When I was with Verizon, I just went to the store when I had problems. It becomes a more personable experience, and sometimes you can reproduce the problem right there in front of them. Most of the time they even called into tech support and did the dirty work for me.

That is exactly what I'm worried about. If it's going to have this issue, I may as well return it and buy it again when all issues are sorted out. I don't want to miss the 14 day window on a word that update is coming and having to deal with it, you know?

Yeah every time I've called tech support is the same thing. I will take it to a Verizon store tomorrow and get a new one. Had some flickering. A little bit ago.

Probably best idea at this point. I haven't had any flickering and I've had the phone for 3-4 days now.
Tell them they should throw in a credit for your account or something for your trouble, too :-P lol

It's the only solution with them. They will even take the phone in the back room and claim it is "fixed". They have absolutely to ability to fix anything in the back room.

Maybish... Any updates on your Verizon G4 issues? I've been following the threads closely for Verizon issues, as I'm tied to Verizon as a carrier. I've delayed getting the G4, to see if any updates or fixes were being pushed out, like AT&T did. But I can't wait any longer and miss all the fun! (Plus my Note II is dying)

Did you exchange yours for another? Is it better? Have you received any updates/bug fixes? Any responses from the Verizon techs other than your calls to them?

Thanks....

Spoke to tech support again last night. There are several fixes coming for the end of june. I believe there are 4. Well not sure if there were 4 updates but he kept saying oh here's another one. One of them fixes battery usage stats cause right now they are wrong. One apparently fixes screen responsiveness.

I started to have him send me a new one but he said there was a $38 tax which needed to be paid right then and there. I'm going away for a few days and my cash flow is pretty low. He said I can go into the store and get it swapped out without any hassle and without having to pay the tax. So that's where I'll be at 9:30am!

Why would they want tax now since the first phone will be taken back along with the tax already paid? And a credit will be issued that will cover the new tax charge.

To try to stall beyond replacement period.

Was that LG tech support or carrier tech support?

I am not sure on the updates. Sounds more like they are trying to stall so you are not able to return it. Even the S6 update was almost a month after AT&T/T-Mobile got theirs so I would assume that if there is any update that fixes anything, would come a month after AT&T update but AT&T update was just to kill a root exploit or something. It makes me sad but my Verizon G4 is going back. I may pick it up again later but I don't want to miss that 14 day window and be stuck with all the issues :(
