loving nova prime :) on my note 3 .

I use nova on every phone and tablet. It's just smoother, faster, and battery efficient for me. I am not a fan of the way touchwiz looks, but do like the features touchwiz offers. I like that nova doesn't take away any of the touchwiz features.

Exactly my problem, I'm not new to android but new to different lauchers, I have downloaded Nova Prime, Themer still in beta and Aviate in beta as well. Themer and Aviate are pretty simple but I think you loose some feature that I like in Touch Wiz. But I still haven't figured out how to use Nova, and I can't even pick an icon pack there's so many of them. I'm trying to watch as many YouTube channels as I can before I give up on Nova Prime. But for now I keep going back to stock.

I've always loved Nova Prime... Using it as well :).

Nova prime offers a lot of transition effects which is why I loved it.

I would love to see some pictures of the launcher. I hate to spend the $4 which makes me laugh when I paid $700 for the phone. haha. Anyone care to share some screen shots? The the posted who mentioned transition effects.... I am very curious to learn more.

Edit: Watched a youtube video of the transition effects. Awesome!!

The problem is that there are a lot of ways to set it up, so any pics that would be posted don't necessary have to reflect what you would want do with it.

For those who haven't used it....

The reason Nova (as well as Apex, which is very similar) are so popular because they're really not trying to re-invent the wheel. There a few launchers out there that really try to completely change the user experience (and that appeals to a lot of folks as well) but that's not so much the case here.

Right out of the box, when you first install it and go to launch your home screen, it will ask you choose Nova as your new default home screen (you can change this later if you want). It will do it's best to import all of your current home screen settings for you, including widgets, though some TW widgets simply won't work. At this point, you're probably thinking, "Hmmm...this doesn't seem much different at all..." ...and that's the beauty of it. For starters, it's essentially a lot like Android's default AOSP launcher...and you could just leave it like that (but you won't).

Once you get into the settings you can do a LOT more things that you couldn't before. Want to increase your dock to hold 7 icons instead of 5? Done. Want to have multiple docks? Done. Want to increase the grid size of your home screen to fit more apps/widgets? Done. Want to resize your widgets to better fit your home screen design? Done. Want your app launcher to have a semi-transparent background and scroll vertically instead having horizontally scrolling pages? Done. (I think you get the idea, I could go on for a while here). Even after doing all of this, you're still going to have something that looks and performs pretty similar to the standard Android launcher, but now it's tweaked more to your liking. Now, you can also into icon packs and stuff like that if you're into creating a themed effect. I personally prefer the standard icons, but again the fact is that it's up to you.

One other great feature is that you backup and restore your home screen configs...so if you decide to play around one day and go nuts changing stuff, it's easy to restore to your previous config without having to figure out how to undo any changes you've made. (For those that like to ROM, this feature is also very handy at getting you home screen restored quickly after a data wipe).

Would I be able to use Nova to make TW look more Holo, like in Jelly Bean? I hate the Gingerbread look of TW, with the green colors and the very dated overall appearance.

Here is a screenshot of Nova Launcher with simple text and HD widgets. Killer combo

I am using nova prime as well. I bought the prime version last year on some play store sale. I like it a lot. It is smooth and fast which is something I could not say about TW. My only complaint is that I can't figure out to have app labels on the apps in my dock.

Does Nova (and Apex and other alternative launchers) work on top of Touchwiz, i.e., does it add overhead in terms of CPU and RAM usage on top of TW?

Or does it completely replace TW? Or partially, so that TW features such as the S-Pen and Air Gestures etc. are still available?
