[MAC METHOD] Root,Unroot & Unlock Your VZ Galaxy Nexus

Alright....been going at it once again to no avail.

this is what I got:

Macbook OSX 10.6.8...its my kids my old Pro crapped out and I have yet to replace it.
nexus...4.0.4
Build # IMM76K

Downloaded everything that it said...updated to the latest and greatest.

Go through the steps in the video and it only gets to < waiting for device >...:'(

Since I'm such a noob with this let me ask some questions..

Does my phone need to be on or off?

does my phone itself need anything downloaded to it?

Are there any other setting beside the Usb Debugging?

I know I have more ...just cant think of them..as I feel the headache coming on.

Answer if you can when you have absolutely nothing better to do.

Your phone has to be in bootloader mode, that's probably why its waiting.

Power off the phone with debugging on and co nected to USB, then power on while holding vol up and vol down and power together till u get the android on his back screen. That's the bootloader.

For some reason it appears to be selected the folder; did you unzip it? It needs to stay as a zip package lol.

Thanks it finally worked! Safari was downloading it as a file so i switched to chrome and it worked with no issues. Thanks again!

We need a way more detailed description for the rooting process. It's way too vague.

"For Mac users, open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-mac.sh’"

Do I hit enter before the "followed by" part? Or do I just paste that first thing, then paste the second thing, and THEN hit enter? And why does the video seem to show something completely separate from these written instructions?

Ah, crap, help! I didn't see this at the bottom

"To root your Galaxy Nexus while you are on stock 4.0.4 IMM76K, please read from this post onward. You must flash a custom recovery over fastboot and use that custom recovery to flash the latest superuser package."

I did what the steps said, without putting any Super User on my SD or putting anything in the fastboot folder... and my phones just been on the Google screen forever. What do I do? I have the newly updated 4.0.4 verizon phone.

Just pull the battery, wait a min, and replace. Boot up like normal. Then follow the 404 directions.

The thread and video are made by different peeps.

There are directions in the sticky unlock root thread, this thread is kinda dated. We can provide you with more clear directions if you need them tho, let me know

I am falling the steps on getting my gnex back to stock on my mac and it is not working lol

Hi,
I have a Galaxy nexus with Android 4.01
I tried to installed jely bean, and following all instructions i founded in awebsite (forgot which one). I installed cwh and twh first.
Then i installed the jelly bean. after the instalation i rebooted my phone and it got stuck on a cross with the for colors during more than one hour.
So i tried to remove all this (Jelly bean, tmh).
But now it's stuck on google logo.

I tried everything.
I don't know what to do to make my phone work. I flashed it bun it's not working:confused:

Can you help me? (A stressed student who cannot pay for the reparations..)

Thank you , i really need a quick answer:)

I'm trying to unroot my Google Nexus 7, and I don't know what I'm doing.... The command prompt doesn't recognize the files. I think this is because the software is Nakasi 4.1.1

Does anyone know how I can do this for my device? I'm on a mac.Screen Shot 2012-09-16 at 6.36.37 PM.png

looks like youre not in the folder the right way.

what's the folder called that contains your fastboot file?

if it's adb-fastboot (folder name), you gotta cd into that folder ...

say its on your desktop - in a folder called adb-fastboot - you gotta

cd desktop
cd adb-fastboot

then you can implement the fastboot commands
./fastboot

as long as your fastboot file is named fastboot, that is.

Hello world, I am new to this forum. If anyone could help me it would mean a lot.

I followed the steps to unlock the bootloader and it worked. I am having troubled rooting the phone. every time i enter chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh I get an error, "no such file or directory".
and the second line ./install-superboot-mac.sh says the same. I'm within the directory that i extracted the files from the zipped folder of superboot. It seems too easy to not get right but If anyone could help that would be great! thanks in advance
