Major battery improvement because of update?

My battery life is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better after the update.

I picked today to quit using my task killer to see what would happen with all those damn apps that start on boot... 12 1/2 hours later I just hit the yellow with 1 hour 35 min. of talk time and a lot of other crap. I would only use app killer manually and all those damn apps keep starting so I gave up and I think it helped my battery. Wifi and gps on all day, I think the update helped.

Way better battery life when idling - only about 2% drain per hour with light use. I've only checked a few emails and message boards and seeing much better battery life. However, I have been using Wi-fi all day instead of 3G now that the Wi-fi works at my work (pre-patch the signal wasn't reliable enough).

I am unplugged for nearly 14 hrs now and have 40% remaining with moderate use. Also used live wallpaper all day. Last time I ran live wallpaper with moderate use I was nearly dead in under 8 hrs. Needless to say I am ecstatic. One odd problem. I read in the update thread that someone lost use of camera after update so I turned on my camera to see if it works but did not even take a picture. Simply turned camera on and returned to home. In my battery life it shows that camera is responsible for 90% of battery usage today. Emailed, texted, tweeted, and interneted all day, but took no pics. ???

Oh Yeah! Major improvement to battery! I can go all day now - and I never used the facebook app or whatever they targeted for improvement. YoooHaaa!
I was really starting to get discouraged about the power life, but now I'm super gland I made the switch.

Yeah, I'm actually turning the brightness up now since it lasts me through the day.
With brightness up, the screen becomes quite gorgious.

I got what seems like. Nice boost it has to do with the new radio. If you check the settings it changed

Ok. I don't know if I am just being an idiot, but I don't have a software update for my Evo. It seems everyone has the 1.47.XXX (and so on) update, mine is still on 1.32.XXX(etc).

Is this correct? Everytime I check the updates, I get the message that says "your phone is up to date"

Yup....12 hours still 40%+ with lots of internet, streaming audio, pics, and video.... I did start testing battery with atk too a couple days ago....I'm not changing a thing at this point. I should easily go 30 hours.

Much better! Over 14 hours right now, with moderate use throughout the day. Battery widget is showing 16% left...this will easily last until I plug in before I go to bed in a couple hours. This def was not the case prior to the update (I did update successfully yesterday).

I've had a few voice calls, emails, internet use, gchat, facebook app use, downloaded the update for Qik...pretty much what I would normally do with my phone on a normal work day. And, I use a live wallpaper and automatic brightness. Buddy has an Evo too, and he's also reporting a great improvement in the battery life. He's got about 20% left, going on 10 hours...and 43% of the usage was voice calls. Very satisfied! =)

BTW, neither of us use a task killer.

My battery is doing pretty awesome so far. I'm 11h30m with 60% left, read/sent a bunch of email/txts, surfed the web at lunch, 40min conf call and been streaming pandora for an 1 1/2 hrs so far.

today i used my phone with EXTREMELY heavy usage and i am just now barely getting the low battery light.
i have been traveling all day from airport to airport. i used my phone ridiculously between MANY calls, (delta major failed on my flight yesterday and f***ed me over), texts, many twitter and facebook updates, web browsing, turning on and off several times as per flight instructions, used in flight wifi. I also used gps and maps several times, and played music.

i am pretty impressed that i didn't need to use my backup battery for all the crap i've been through today. let's see how it does with light/moderate usage tomorrow as i work the entire day.

edit: i failed to mention that my phone lasted 10 hours before the low battery light. i also forgot to note that i probably did four hours in call time. no task killer.

I've also received a big improvement. I run task killer, and the only thing I don't kill is the clock(because alarm) and weather widget.

Now I haven't been using youtube or anything crazy on the phone. Just Facebook a little bit, and I had to google a few phone numbers. Check email and send out about 40 texts, and on the phone for 18 minutes.

But since fully charging it yesterday at 7am and being unplugged for those straight 24 hours. My battery still reads 62% full.

I've also received a big increase in battery life. It goes from full to 80%ish pretty quick, but after that it seems to be fine. I'm going to go so far as to say that the biggest flaw in the phone has been reasonably remedied with this update. I am VERY surprised. Here's hoping we can get a root that includes this patch soon.

My battery life improvement was HUGE also. Normally I'm back to charging by lunch and now after the update, I went all day yesterday. I was on a decent amount of time trying to figure out why my wifi connects to my network but wont let me browse pages, did a good amount of texting, made a few calls, and even took a few pics and I still had 20% left at 11pm last night. I'm very happy with my EVO. Well other than the wifi issue which I'm gonna figure out one way or another even if I have to buy a new router....lol

Now that I am seeing these threads, I wonder if this update helped my battery too now.
At the same time I shut off the Always on Mobile data to try and conserve and shut off alll the haptic feedback and vib on button presses too.
Im at like 22hrs+ so far and 37% batt left with how I would normally use the phone which i can deff deal with.

Did quite a few texts, few emails, took a few hd vids and couple pictures, very little web on 3G only. (wont turn on 4G right now till im ready to test more), maybe 20mins worth of phone calls, little system tinkering checking batt life and such and a few facebook updates.

So if it actually stays like this, I can deal with this phone. Lets hope for the best.

I'm happy with the battery life, although I have noticed that after the light is green I can take it off the charger and plug it back in and it will charge for about another hour and the battery meter won't drop that 5 or 6% after I take it off the charger for the second time.
