Major battery improvement because of update?

Does turning "always on mobile data" off save, battery?

There's a handful of threads that debate that, I've always left mine on.

This has drastically improved my battery life, I wonder if the update under-clocked the CPU? I had the screen on for about 85% of the time over an hour and fifteen minute commute and there's just a little off the battery bar.

WOAH: When I go to menu, settings, about phone, battery, my battery level is WAY less than what appears on my top bar...

Did they just "update" this by scamming us?

Scam or not, I'll be 2 full days off the charger in a little over 5 hours.
That works for me.
Before the update I was charging once in the morning and again in the evening.

I'm even more impressed now...normal usage, gps on, 23 hours and just realizes slacker was keeping my phone awake for 14 of those hours. I can't imagine what ill get w/o a out of control app running.

I really debate the always on data too, but something was keeping my phone in awake state I think.
I did the change along with the patch so its hard to tell. Ill test like this for another day or too then turn the feature back on to see if batt life goes to **** again.

I think last time i shut it off, i got random network not avail messages so i put it back on.

Im at about 24hrs of pretty decent use now and just hit the 18% marker while on a phone call.

That battery meter and under phone info shouldnt be too far off. If I want a real number though, i go into the batt info under the *#*#4636#*#* and look at the number indicator on there

I have also seen a big increase in battery life. No change in my phone habits. I unplug around 8:30 AM and before the update I was at 15% left by 8:30 PM at the latest. Last night I didn't plug in and didn't get down to 10% until 9 AM the next day. That is over 24 hours, and I happened to use my phone pretty heavily yesterday.

So color me impressed.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think my battery life is a bit worse since the update. Also, my Evo now won't access the web via my access point at home. Bummer. I was pretty happy with the battery life before. I'll keep testing.

I might be jumping on the gun here but I have unplugged my phone at 7AM and my battery meter shows 74% (loss of 26% in about 6hrs) with moderate usage. Few calls (total of 30-40 mins), web browsing through WIFI (total of 30 mins), Pics taken from phone (total of 7), playing around with the phone for about 20 mins. I am happy that after all this its down to 74%, before the update it used to be around 40%

I've always had pretty good battery life anyways, but I'm sitting at 25 hrs and 35 mins. I have exactly 50% left. Mind you this is moderate use. I'm not watching movies or even heavy internet usage. I unplugged at 7:45 yesterday morning, plugged it into the computer at about later in the to pull back up off my SD card and forgot it for about 20 mins. 25.5 hours later, should be able to last until I got to bed tonight as long as I don't watch a movie or heavy it up at all. I think thats pretty excellent battery use!

My battery life has a HUGE improvement. I'm almost at 24 hours right now, and still have 8% left. Normally I would have to recharge after about 8 hours or so, so we're talking about a 300% + improvement. Plus right now I have my music playing in the background, screen @ 100%, gps & bluetooth on-- just to drain my battery so I can recharge it... And it still refuses to die!

I did this some time back to completely kill my battery to fully charge it from zero and since then have gone up to 26 hours before it completely dying. But yes...even though the evo does drain quicker in the greens. It's like pulling teeth trying to fully drain it when it gets to red.

Definitely improved battery life here. Before would barely make it from 7am to 10pm with it at 15% or less. Took it off at 7am this morning and here at 2:30 it's still at 80%. Seems to be about par for average use after the update. LOVING that I don't HAVE to plug it in during the day!

Haven't seen much change in battery life, mine was quite excellent to begin with. Haven't seen much improvement on WiFi signal strength either, mine has average to poor WiFi reception before and after the update.

At least nothing broke, something to be truly thankfull for...

Glad its not just me... My battery Is no joke now... lol... This fixes my only problem with the evo... Went to sleep last night at 1AM and when I woke up at 7 my battery was still at 85 percent... Im very happy now with my battery life!!

I would love the battery improvement you all have. Could service be an issue? At home I'm usually at 2 signal bars all the time.

Seems like it made a noticeable difference on mine as well. Running since yesterday at 4pm and was using 4g quite a bit last night since it just launched in St. Louis. Still at 27% and it's draining very slowly.

Seriously - both AndroidCentral and Phandroid need to re-Review the phone after this update - the battery improvements are THAT good.

The phone scored so high even though all the tech sites tanked it on the battery issue - but here i'm at 1d 7hours with 28% left using on my average day of functions.

13hrs and still 75% left.
