March 10!!!

well, technically speaking, VZW's LTE as it is now doesn't provide "true" 4G speeds either, so it's not much different, they're all 3.5G technically speaking... and at this point in time, it's too late to make hardware changes i imagine, so it's likely to be software related

and my thought is more along the lines of, as company, does AT&T do a better job launching phones than verizon? true, their network is not up to par and i havent really been in touch with their launches lately, but i do know that VZW has really fell short a couple of times already regarding launching new phones... and while this is their first LTE phone, the LTE network has been up and running for quite some time already

I could swear that I read something somewhere that stated the the commission that's in charge of the "G's" :D changed what 4G actually is; and that Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile are actually 4G. I could be wrong though. I'll try and find it.

Found it "...Following a detailed evaluation against stringent technical and operational criteria, ITU has determined that “LTE-Advanced” and “WirelessMAN-Advanced” should be accorded the official designation of IMT-Advanced. As the most advanced technologies currently defined for global wireless mobile broadband communications, IMT-Advanced is considered as “4G”, although it is recognized that this term, while undefined, may also be applied to the forerunners of these technologies, LTE and WiMax, and to other evolved 3G technologies providing a substantial level of improvement in performance and capabilities with respect to the initial third generation systems now deployed..."

This is why I don't believe that picture of the release date. This one can be taken as "REAL".

THIS IS FAKE!

I REPEAT....THIS IS FAKE!!

DO NOT BELIEVE THIS AT ALL !!!!!!!!!

maybe, from what i recall, 4G is classified as up to 100MB/s, of course, that's like peak speeds, but even discounting that by half, 40-50 mb/s would prob qualify as true 4g... 5-12mb/s runs at about 1/10th of what you'd expect when LTE technology its completed

btw, in the picture, why's the date format different for the thunderbolt and the iphones? 03/10/2010 vs 2/10/2010? lol

I think what I read is that the 4G standard was one thing but the Phone people influenced that standard to be lowered so that what is offered can be actual 4G (that's how I understand it in my uneducated techno mind ;) )

haha, that's pure awesomeness

I think it's convenient that its March 10th, exactly 1 month after the Iphone release. We've definitely seen 1 month exclusivity agreements before. Maybe that was the plan all along.

Better hope the Gov doesn't shut down on March 5. It will if Congress can't come up with a stopgap spending bill. If that happens the IRS will process payments but not refunds.

i dont trust a damn thing that comes from BB anymore. they have to be the biggest group of clueless ass clowns i know. i had two diff best buys tell me wed night that they had the phones there and they were def gonna be selling them the next morning. we see how that went. idiots dont even know what phones they have at their store or not.

Just went to verizon to check out xoom seemed a little buggy yet but what I was really doing was prying for a date for the thunderbolt he couldnt give me an exact date of course. but after he asked me what phone I had (storm1) he showed me his droid x I then said the latest in the forums showed a pic of bestbuy with release of march 10 he then said it would be before that so lets hope verizon makes an announcement SOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!

I'm going to mark on my calendar "release date for HTC Thunderbolt" for MARCH 31. That way I will actually be pleasantly surprised if it releases before that date, and this way it sticks with Verizon's original statement of "by Q1 2011."

Until then, I'll be on my BlackBerry Storm 1... :p

i dont believe it because IF it is March 10,2011 why do we see 2 phones listed as them getting in stock in 2010 the lg cosmos touch on 11-23-10 and the samsung continium on 11-11-10????????? maybe in November of last year these dates were real dates but i went in yesterday to a verizon wireless store and pre-ordered the Thunderbolt and i was told the phone was being released on Monday meaning February 28

Went to Best Buy and talked to my buddy today and asked him about the TB and he looked it up in their systems and still not in there and he was told not to give customers any dates but he was told the first part of March. Also went in there to try to price match ATT's price on the Atrix off contract which they wouldn't do!

......? You preordered your thunderbolt at verizon???? You can only preorder at best buy

So you mean we have to wait a little over a year for an announcement? Crap.

Oh well, at least the 1st is a Thursday, so maybe we'll get it March 1st, 2012? Nah, they probably would have it for the week after :(
