Mate 9 is too underrated!

Yes it is, which is why Mali need some aces and proper optimization, most games have better Adreno optimization.
Ah that makes sense that game developers would cater to adreno since most high end phones used them. I wonder if Huawei could work with some developers to help improve optimization with their chip

Adreno with Exynos or Kirin CPU could result in amazing results in all front unless Mali would step up the game and also why Huawei won't use more cores? they might need to lower the frequency as core number go higher, but i wonder if more lower MHZ cores would bring down power usage during heavy gaming sessions.

Also, i would like to see so kind of CPU frequency changer like Sammy got and more control over performance to balance it out with battery life, that could extend the amazing battery life even more.

I believe Huawei announced they'll be making their own GPU chips soon. we just gotta wait and see how that turns out.

When you say make their own gpu chips, are they going to use custom cores like qualcomm?

Getting a carrier like AT&T on board could make a big difference. Certified. Monthly payment plan. Name recognition.

The 970 should be nice.

Loving Mate 9 battery and performance.

Just thought of sharing something, today I had a bit busy day at work and even more outside(went to see the new IT movie, which is great tbh), my Mate 9 was off charger around 00am previous night, and using the phone for 2.5hr music with external USB DAC, some navigation, gaming browsing whole day around 8.5hr SOT, the battery died at 11:30pm, 1d of heavy use with no charges, the USB DAC itself takes around 10% for each hour.

Those figures are more than impressive, never seen phone survive that long, the Mate 9 amaze me every time.

I can confirm IT was a great movie

I get 15-18 hrs SOT on my moto z play

Moto Z Play is the champion of battery life, in this case, i was comparing the Mate 9 mainly to the newest and older high end phones.
Ah ok,that wasn't clear in your original post. My note 8 can do about 9 hours SOT but on light to medium usage which is fine for me, but heavy usage would obviously be less

You know, I find it odd we hear all about features on smartphones and no one really talks about call quality, call sound, and speakerphone sound quality from either end of a call anymore...and really those are the big reasons to own a cell phone in the first place...sure a nice phone helps but if a call sounds bad then everything else is pointless.....so...does anyone have an opinion or a comment on those before i buy this phone? Thanks.
