Mdnsd killing battery?

Hi!
I also have Galaxy S3. Mdsnd also drainging my battery for a month or two, none of the soutions worked so far.
Last week I had issues after updating the Google Assistant to a newer one. Home button caused crash, some "android.system.ui.app" crashed, task manager does not came up.
After looking for some solution, a youtube video suggest to remove Google Assistant (or roll back to factory). Doing that, the mdnsd completely disappeared. That was 1 week ago. Facebook and Messenger is on the phone I use it constantly. I also have an SD card inserted with around 6000 photos (and counting). Not these caused the mdnsd draining...
Unfortunately the google assistant is an old and ugly version, but working (for me the weather widget was important, its also working).

Having the same poblem with my Galaxy S5, Android 4.4.2. Fb Crashes since a couple of weeks and battery drain. Also tried the solution with the Root Browser, but is says Changing of Permissions is not allowed. Any suggestions for a different solution?
Thanks!

Re: Mdnsd killing battery

I just had this pop up on my screen, but my battery has been absolute crap lately. I don't recall ever having the free flight app installed and it certainly isn't installed now. I also use the package disabler pro app and can't find anything related to Mdnsd to disable.

Re: Mdnsd killing battery

The problem is solved settings in Facebook chat. It is necessary to disable the "Nearby friends" process "mdnsd" stop and will no longer be to plant a battery.

Re: Mdnsd killing battery

Where can I find the "Nearby friends" option in Facebook Messenger?

By the way, I removed Firefox from my Galaxy Note Edge, the mdnsd still comes back even after I turn off the phone and charge it to 100%. I do notice that after uninstalling Facebook Messenger the mdnsd disappear, but I really need Facebook Messenger since I am very active and need this for buy/sell/trade purpose. Also lately around January 2017, I notice that Facebook mobile keep crashing constantly, and when that happens, the mdnsd pop up. This is so annoying!!!!

I tried this, but when I went to save it, it told me there was an error, and I was not allowed to make changes.

Re: Mdnsd killing battery?Ha

Had mdnsd problem, also. Uninstalled Firefox and problem resolved. Returned within a day or two. Read another thread elsewhere to shut down device, fully charge, turn on. If mdnsd still running, go to location setting and change accuracy settings from where you have them to something else (low to hi or hi to low).

Tried this fix but Root Browser said it could not modify permissions on my system: Samsung S5 with 4.4.2.

I don't have Firefox and have tried other fixes noted in this thread, with no success.

What does mdnsd do (other than quickly consume batteries)? Is there a way to list the apps using it's service?
