There's no way to change the ambient mode brightness, that's handled by the watch itself, but the tick marks can be added. The only problem is that I can't add them to this Mechano version because it's designed for the Gear 2, Gear S and Gear S2. I could only add the ambient mode on a watchface made only for the Gear S2. However, I'll try making an upgraded version of Mechano exclusively for the Gear S2.
In the meantime, I suggest you take a look at Watchland, it's a new app I'm working on which has tons of faces, many of them with ambient mode. Plus, I'll be adding a default ambient mode as well
