All these people need to pay their bills rather than bypass the security plugin. It is there to stop the phone working if you don't pay for it. That is only fair. Don't pay, can't use. Seems fair to me.

I think it's as much not knowing that with the payment plan in place this security plugin WILL be installed (depending on how that payment plan is set up). So many people these days just think "ooohhh, shiny new toy, gimme!" and sign on the dotted line without reading about what they're actually signing up for.

It seems like a predatory lending scheme where they charge outlandish fees & interest and make it near impossible to pay back. And it's quite scary that they can take complete control of your phone and who knows what else they have access to on your phone. Unfortunately, these predatory companies make it too hard to resist for some people and these people either don't read all the details upfront or are not given all the details upfront. Fortunately, these type of companies are illegal in the US. But buyer beware, just because it's illegal in US doesn't mean they don't exist in the US. You really got to know what you're signing up for.

Predatory? Maybe. But they count on someone just signing on the dotted line without reading. I'd love to see one of those purchase contracts, it's probably spelled out right in there...

I did some digging for my own curiosity and one of the things I found is this Palm Pay partnership with Nigerian service providers seems to be a relatively new program. This is just speculation, but I'm guessing we have a lot of people finding out the hard way that you can't just ignore your payments and get a new phone for free.
