It's not to do with the number of Thanks or posts, right?

It's set manually by senior ambassadors and moderators as a form of recognition, and encouragement to do more, right?

Anyone got inside info on this?

I can try to explain: Top Posters is set by number of posts. It's a rolling list. I am not sure of the timeframe, but I believe it is over a 24 hour period. Top Thanked is the same. Based on the number of thanks you get in a set period. Top thanked is changed more easily as it doesn't take many thanks to get on it.
