MHL (microusb to HDMI) cable for Evo 3D

Re: Where to get an MHL (microusb to HDMI) cable for Evo 3D

Any chance they will be putting a stop to these cables like they are the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables?

Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables must be withdrawn | News | TechRadar UK

I'm guessing the cables will be going bye-bye, but not the adapters since that article specifically mentions CABLE when speaking of the HDMI connectors. That will apply to all MHL cables, but the adapters will be alright since you plug a standard HDMI cable into it & run that to the TV.

The cables they are talking about are not the same things for our phones, we have a micro USB slot, not the mini display port such that Apple is using. Look at the picture and you can see it is different. This is not about MHL.

I guess it's gonna be safer to hold off and get the "official" one from Sprint. :-\ Sucks.

my evo doesnt even get the power thru this adaptor, i guess its not compatible with evo 3d (made only for sensation 4g). the reason i ordered this is coz someone said it worked on his evo 3d.... oh well i will return it to tmobile tomorow..

Well my Samsung adapter has shipped, haven't heard from anyone yet if it'll work or not. Not sure what to do with it if it doesn't, can't exactly return it because I bought it for the wrong phone.

Re: MicroUSB to MHL HDMI adapter, $25

Good deal but shipping is 1 to 2 months. That seems to be the norm for these things.

I received the HTC adapter from Sprint yesterday on the pricey side but works great.

If you get a different one and it works, let us know, there is no reason why one cable should work differently than another, it's a standard with only one version so far.

It's very possible that you are having a problem, but this would be similar to saying that the HDMI cable you got from Best Buy doesn't work with your Samsung TV so you got a Samsung HDMI cable, or to make it even more basic, your RCA cables, etc. (Though with HDMI there are multiple version of the standard now) It's more likely that you either had a bad adapter or had a bad cable/connection in there somewhere.

I have now used my T-Mobile adapter with my computer monitor as well (using an HDMI-DVI cable, which might be off the market soon as mentioned in this thread ;) and it works great there too.

Again to re-itterate what I said above: WIth the T-Mobile adapter you need to use WALL POWER to the side of the adapter to get the setup to work, plugging a usb cable in to your computer/PS3/etc will not allow the adapter to work. If you have wall power connected to the adapter and have all the other connections secure, it should work.

What about from Sprint? If I recall, it's $30 or $40, but in stock.

wow, I never thought power source would make a difference. I powered the adapter from WALL POWER and it worked. Thank you so much...it is just , without having the instruction of how to use a device it just frustrates you easily.. however the video resolution was pretty poor i wasnt sure it it was 1080p as described...

So the video/picture resolution seems great, its just the UI that seems really pixelated to me

I had the same problem with the T-Mobile MHL adapter. I tried with 3 different TV's, 2 Vizio and a Samsung. Then I realized maybe it is not the adapters problem, maybe it is the HDMI cables problem. I have 3 unused HDMI cables. Sure enough, as soon as I plugged in the different HDMI cable, which was a different brand, it worked fine. So, before you return the adapter, try a different HDMI cable.

MHL has been around for a while in Europe but its new to the US.
Going to order my adapter this week.

Let us know when you get it.

If it works, then I'm getting it too.... That or the T-Mobile one.

Got it in the mail yesterday, works great. The UI is a bit pixelated, as are some games as you would expect for angry birds on a 56inch, but everything works fine. Netflix is working at full resolution and my phone actually charges in the process which is nice. I dont own a 3D television so I cant say much for that but when I open 3D media it comes up as 2D on my television. I am very satisfied, for $30 you cant go wrong.

I am going to return mine (Tmobile adapter) due to UI pixelated issue (especially when I am watching netflix) picture quality is perfect on my phone but on a 55" tv its not so good.

For me its only slightly pixelated when the image on screen was only designed for the 4inch evo screen (many games, and apps). However, when I use Netflix or any of my self taken photos and videos, the quality is perfect and substantially better.
