microSD card recommendations?

While it is nice to see the speed numbers for the cards, can the Incredible really take advantage of the faster cards? No sense in buying a race horse to pull a plow.

I was wondering the same thing. The Incredible manual specs the SD slot at SD 2.0. Kingston's Class 10 is SD 3.0 but is also backwards compatible to 2.0.

Unless the Incredible can rise to SD 3.0 looks like the Kingston Class 10 would bring no benefit.

I'd like to get as fast a card as possible, looking forward to being able to run apps from it with Froyo...

I think the DI is coming with a 2GB card, from my understanding

I ordered May 15, 2010 and recently got a 2gig card in the mail. Just the FREE 2 gig card, no phone. :(

I have a couple of questions, Let's say I have a 16 gig SD card in the (imaginary) incredible phone right now. If I were to plug the phone in the computer to transfer files can I also see the SD Card? Or will the computer ONLY show the internal 8 gigs of memory?

Will the phone support 32 gigs? Or will that feature not come till Android 2.2?

the computer will show both the sd card and the internal memory as two separate drives.

the phone supports 32GB, but currently can't format it (you need to format it in a computer) 2.2 shouldn't have that issue (i'm guessing)

According to a previous post, the new htc phones (dInc, evo) will only be able to read a class 2 card.

If the 32GB sandisk is only a class 2, will I be able to run apps off of it with FROYO?

The manual states that DI reads at SD 2.0 standard which includes speed class 2 through 6. Kingston has a Class 10 however it is based on SD 3.0 which is supposed to ba backwards compatible with SD 2.0. SDX cards will be based on SD 4.0 from what I understand and will not be compatible with SD 2.0 devices.

My question was related to the speed the DI is capable of utilizing internally. I had a conversation with HTC Tech support yesterday and they told me that DI will likely only read at class 2 speeds maybe class 4 but that is subject to further testing which lends me to think they are not completely certain. HTC phones prior to DI are limited to class 2 read speeds per HTC. All the phones would still read a class 4 or class 6 card, just at class 2 speeds.

I am wondering also about running apps when froyo gets here. It would be nice if there was an app that could calculate the DI's sd card internal data rate.

not true at all. it reads sd 2, not class 2. huge difference. sd 2 includes speeds through class 6

The only time, from the way I read it, that you will notice a real speed difference between any of the class cards is while using the camera. I'm using a Class 4 8GB card and it acts fine. don't forget even with the speed rating cards often don't perform like other cards in the same class. So read reviews, the solid state memory field is still young and not very consistent across the board like most people think. Another one of those you get what you pay for moments.

I think I'm going to get an 8GB card. I have my iPod for music, don't intend to keep a ton of pics on the phone, and once 2.2 comes out I'm sure I'll have plenty of room for apps with 8 gigs. Anyone recommend a good one? OfficeMax has a Kodak 8GB card for $35, but I'm sure I could do better than Kodak.

I purchased a 16gb class 6 and am pleased with the performance. I know it has been said that the class doesn't have any performance wit regard to operation speed but if I was to do it again i would buy the same card.

Would the 16gb card that came with my stock storm2 function properly on my future D.Inc?

Never really thought much about class and speeds.

Yes it will, I don't think there are any non-supported SD or SDHC cards on this phone. Everything I've tried in it has worked from class 2-6 512MB-32GB.

My DInc was shipped with a 2GB microSD card. They're shipping them with 8GB now?

Not that I am aware...mine didn't even come with one....I had my 8 gb card from my curve so I just use that and the new 2 gb card sits in a drawer.

The only time you will notice speed differences with cards is when writing to the card. When it scans the card there will be some speed differences but other than that we are not doing multiple frames per second writing, etc.

you can get a 16gb card for that price....
want to buy my 8gb card for half that?
