microSD card recommendations?

want to buy my 8gb card for half that?

I can get a new one for less than half that online. Haha. That's why I didn't buy the Kodak. Was just looking for feedback on a good one.

I know I can find a 16GB card for around the $30 mark, but they will be the slower Class 2 speeds (Amazon has one avail via the Marketplace right now for $27 + shipping). Not a MAJOR deal, but I'd rather go a bit quicker with a smaller capacity if possible.

I'm pretty sure that the phone comes with the 8gb card pre-installed. You may be asking, why haven't the video reviewers pointed it out??? It's because the units that have are for testers and dealers to view and publicize the phone. This is just my assumption, but i know this is what verizon did when they released the Storm2 back in October.

To answer your question though: I don't think you're gonna notice to much of a different while the card is in your phone. The speed of the card comes into play when you are transferring data from the card to the computer. I think you're looking into the situation more than is really necessary.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW: I've found Ebay to be the cheapest place for buying memory cards.

Actually that's incorrect, the better the class the faster data transfers in general, you are partially right about transferring data to the computer and vice/versa but this also comes into play when using apps that store memory on your sd or playing music off your sd ect. A higher class microsd = smoother and faster app/music use as well as less battery life consumed.

I don't think you would notice it with music, etc. once the library is generated and even then it's while its being populated.

How about this 8gb model? Its class 6, and I read people saying A Data is quite fast in bench tests.

2GB card, but I didn't even get that with mine, not that it matters because I would have put in the card from my Storm anyways lol. Didn't think I would need a bigger card but I'm finding myself looking into a 32GB card of my own now.

Yeah I feel ya, I've always used Sandisk because of the experience they gave me in my cameras. I've used A-Data, Dane-Electric, and Kingston in other devices though and they have faired well, but if possible I buy the Sandisk. My new camera I ordered last week came with a Kingston class 4 8 GB card, works pretty comparable to my Sandisks, so it will "stay in the bag" for some testing.

Yeah not sure why some people got the 2GB and some didn't? Maybe in Store versus oh the phone versus online? Not too sure, no biggie though because a 2GB is pretty useless in my world.

figure it this way, if data transfer speeds were not that important then people would not be wasting time on NAND. NAND pretty much proves that things work faster off the internal memory of your phone, this basically means if you cannot operate off your phones internal memory then the next best thing is the highest class of microsd. It's like using one of the new Solid State HD's for your PC rather than a standard SATA. It will transfer data (including music) much faster and smoother.

Notably phones are not really fast enough, or the subsystems aren't, to take full advantage of faster flash IMHO. I've used cards from class 2 through 6 and the only speed increase I saw was in the camera and loading your media player for the first time. And even when that was the case I saw no speed increase between a class 4 and class 6 card. Just something to take note in, class 4 seems pretty much instant in all regards.

If nothing changes on your SD as far as creating the libraries etc, you see no speed increase between class 2 or 6 when involving playing music or viewing pictures. You would in a faster machine however, but as fast as we think these phones are, they can't cope with much more information at one time that what a class 2 card throws at it. (I don't think this is a processor issue either, I believe the memory subsystem for the phone itself is rather sluggish, hence the reason the phone freaks out while installing a new app.)

Either way get what you can afford and if it works for you great! BTW the only time I've seen benefit in using a high class sdhc card was in a DSLR camera on continuous shooting at 30FPS. I don't think the Incredible will be doing that anytime soon lol.

I contacted HTC when I was on the hunt for a larger card and they informed me the DI reads sdhc cards at Class 2, possibly as high as Class 4 but that was subject to more testing. They said all of their phones prior to DI read only at Class 2. I was going to spring for the Kingston Class 10 if the phone could take advantage of it but I ended up with the A-Data 16GB Class 6 from Newegg instead. Works fine for me and I save 50 bucks.

I got the 8gb SanDisk Class 2 card from Amazon marketplace. Paid about $16 total. I was looking at higher classes (for an extra $15), but they were from other manufacturers. A number of resources I found online stated that the read/write speed of a class 2 Sandisk was comparable to class 4, and even some class 6 cards from other manufacturers. Also read that these 'classes' only consider the minimum r/w speeds, and thus really have little bearing on how a card will actually perform. Regardless, I think the class 2 will be fine for my needs.

I have a 16GB microSDHC card, and will likely get a 32GB microSDHC card so I can carry music movies, podcasts etc so I can leave my iPod Classic at home and combined with Pandora life is good.

People have already reported problems shooting HD video with class 2
cards limiting their frame per second capabilities from the slow write speed.
I changed to a class 4 card and noticed an immediate improvement in speed
over the class 2 card.... now I'd really like to try a class 6 or higher to see !!
