Def not. I was worried about that before it was officially announced, but it mostly gives a Grey gunmetal look depending how it hits the light.

I haven't made up my mind if I am upgrading from my S7 Edge yet but, I usually get black since I keep a case on it. I do like the color shift of the gray one though.

Yea, when I played with it at BB I thought it was black, although in some of the pics I've seen it is a much lighter purple. I guess it changes depending on the light. I suppose it will only matter if I put a clear case on it.

What I like is the front is all black. Chances are Ill have a protective case on it most of the time anyway. That Orchid is catchy after seeing it in person.

Went and compared the colors at BB yesterday. They had both the S8 and S8+ in all three colors. The Orchid Gray looks more orchid than grey to my eyes. It reminded me a lot of the Black Sapphire that the S6 Edge came in, which in my opinion usually looks more sapphire than black. I really wished the Orchid looked more gunmetal, as some had suggested, but I didn't see this at all. What I didn't realize prior to going in was that the bezel (the metal part around the edges, not around the screen) has a purple tinge to it as well.

After seeing the black in person, I think it looks better in photos than in reality. I agree with previous comments that it looked (and felt) more plasticy than the other two colors. If it had been a more metallic black or like a brushed look I would have liked it better. As it is, it reminds me of someone who plasti-dipped all the chrome on their car to a gloss black; not just in color, but texture as well. I had pre-ordered an S8+ in black, but cancelled and re-ordered in silver. Not my favorite color of all time, but I liked it most out of the three. I know my wife will snatch up an Orchid Gray as soon has her current phone is paid off.

I've had black phones the past 3 years and was going to go different color this time...but after checking them out in person the black looks the best. I like how the metal trim is also black looks stealthy.

I'm still undecided if I'm gonna get one. My iPhone 7 Plus is still treating me well, and I really don't like any Android Wear or Samsung's own watches. My Apple Watch is the only thing making me hesitant about going back to Android.

If I do get one though, it'll be black.

The Gear 3 Frontier is amazing and working great with my iPhone 7 Plus. No more disconnections like when the iOS app first launched. With that said, only two smartwatches worth a damn is the apple watch and the GEAR 3.

Since it was announced I had my mind set on the black but something was not right and I didn't know what it was so i went with the orchid gray in my pre order and believe it or not I feel a lot better. So I conclusion after a couple of black phones lately it seems I was just craving for something more exclusive this time.

I went with the Orchid Gray S8 + after checking it out at BestBuy. I've had black for the past few years and wanted a change. The silver was a bit too shiny for me. I got a clear Spigen case to show off the color and two more black Spigen cases to alternate with or in case I get tired of the gray.

Was gonna go with black but saw the orchid grey in T-Mobile store tonight and decided to go with it. Looks really nice! Has a gunmetal look to it which I like.
