Mini View Stopped Working

Has anyone else's Mini View stop working? It was working originally for me, but it has stopped all of a sudden.

Only thing I can think of is the installation of a theme perhaps?

I got a brand new unlocked LG G7 and it stopped working a couple hours into me setting the phone up to get it how I like and restoring app data. Since I was doing a bunch of stuff at the time I noticed that mini view didn't work anymore, it's not obvious what's the cuase.

I submitted a request to LG support, and they said to check switch access to make sure it's off (it was for me) or that it may be an app.

It seems to be an app since mini view works in safe mode for me. I didn't install a new theme or launcher, though, so I don't know which app.

So far, I've tried disabling draw over screen permissions for all apps that had it, one by one, and that didn't work. So I'm currently at a loss unless I literally uninstall all apps and then reinstall one by one, which sounds like a PITA.

Does anyone know what app permissions may interfere with mini view? That'd at least narrow my search space.

Successfully troubleshot (is that a word?) my specific issue! It was LastPass' Accessibility Service feature. Turning that off by going to (if you're using LG's tab view in Settings) General -> Accessibility, LastPass (under "Services") and switching to "off" does the trick.

For those of you whose problem isn't LastPass, here's the method I used to troubleshoot.

First, I checked that mini-view worked in Safe Mode (rebooting, then holding volume down). It did. This means it was some app that was causing the issue.

I then rebooted into normal mode, and uninstalled each installed app one by one, rebooting each time and checking to see if mini view worked. I kept a list of apps I was removing so that I could reinstall the nonproblematic ones later. This is obviously a PITA, but to narrow my search space, I focused on apps with permissions involving screen drawing and accessibility, since those seemed to be the main likely culprits, and I found out it was LastPass on the second try.

I then reinstalled LastPass, knowing that it asks for a lot of permissions. I only turned them on one at a time, checking mini-view each time. When it came to ask for permission for the Accessibility feature to auto fill Android apps, I turned it on and mini view stopped working. So it was clear that this was the culprit.

So, I have LastPass installed, and while it can't autofill apps, it's still does most of what I need, plus I have mini view back. I can always temporarily turn this permission on if I need it to autofill apps.

I hope this helps at least some people, since losing mini view seems to be a common problem for some people on LG devices based on the searching I've done.

Thanks for the troubleshooting!! Do you think this is an issue for LG to fix? Or does it belong to LastPass?

Also, is the accessibility permission required for the latest "auto fill" features found in Oreo? (Thinking that we can disable this permission and still use LastPass with the older fill option).

Not sure, but I think it's a LastPass issue. I've reported it to them and it's been escalated to level 3 support, so hopefully something will get done; I suspect either LastPass or LG will provide an update to fix it.

Nope. The accessibility permissions is filed as a legacy setting under LastPass' settings, separate from the Oreo autofill feature. Mini view will work in my experience with the Oreo permission enabled and the legacy accessibility permission disabled. But unfortunately LastPass doesn't work perfectly for me in that case, although sometimes it does.

Thanks for the input. In my case it was another app causing the trouble, but your pointer set me on the right path and I quickly found the culprit. Thanks!

Troubleshot IS a word in my vocabulary. Perhaps, because I'm a Network/System Admin.

Anyway, thanks for this, this worked for me, didn't want to keep uninstalling/installing apps to find this. Did it a few times, but never found the solution, because I end up just waiting until the issue rears its head, but by then, I'm off to other stuff. LMAO!

Been using LastPass for years, and really like it. I don't mind that it has this little issue, LastP isass still worth it to me.
