Minor Edit Function on screenshots and photos

I've lost the ability on my Google Pixel 2 to do minor edits to screenshots like crop unless I do it immediately after taking the image. If I open it from my file manager I get nothing, I have tried several file managers to no avail.

No there is nothing but set as on the 3 dots

No at the bottom the only options I'm given are share and delete

I'm getting quite frustrated.

Usually to edit a photo, you need at photo editor app.
If you don't have one, give "Snapseed" a try.

I don't know what 'ability' you're referring to - I don't ever remember being able to do minor edits except immediately after taking the screenshot.
There's a bazillion applications that allow you to edit pictures; one that I happen to use for markup purposes is PicSay Pro https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shinycore.picsaypro (pretty sure there's a free version).
