MIUI Ported to the X

I tried the ICS miui and had issues. It wouldn't let me change the lockscreen and boot to CWR didn't work. Maybe some other things I don't remember. Are you guys getting this too? I'm tempted to flash it and checkoff out again. I'm on 21 right now.

For clockwork to take on MIUI builds you'll need to run the cat.jpg script in the Terminal Emulator app.

$ su
# cat.jpg

Or you could get into the limited built in bootmanger of MIUI by pressing the volume key (down) when the blue light shows during boot.

you'll need to carefully read the instructions before navigating in the MIUI bootmanager (simple really)

select recovery/latest recovery then you'll be in CWR!

Lockscreens can be changed in the theme app/edit theme. ;-)

No changing the Chinese fonts that I know of yet, try the Michael Jackson theme.. :-D

I ran the cat.jpg script when I got back on .21 and I'm able to boot CWR now. I know how to change themes my issue was when I flashed ICS MIUI it wasn't applying the themes when I tried.

My latest issue now on .21 is when I pull my phone out of my pocket the torch will randomly be turned on and I can't figure out why it's happening. Phone is locked and it's only supposed to turn on when you hold down the home button.

Lots of issues with .21.

Phone freezes when I get calls and I can't unlock the screen to answer them.
Phone freezes when I get text messages and I have to pull out my battery to access them.
Phone freezes when I try to open my app drawer.
Phone freezes..
Phone freezes...

But hey, the battery life is pretty okay.

I didn't have it overclocked, but I was running QuickClock Advanced to underclock/undervolt (not by much). I wiped, reflashed with the file you just gave me, and now the only way I can do anything on my phone is with the assistance of prayer. Forced closes, freezes, random reboots. It's pretty rad.

Gonna go back to the original build and wait for something new. It wasn't perfect, but at least I could make phone calls.

Thanks for you help.

remove the quickclock advanced. I tried that out and my phone just wasnt able to handle it and I too had a bunch of random reboots and freezes like you. Once i took that stuff off and put the cpu back to its stock settings i have had no issues with any of the MIUI builds.

force closing and reboots

Just shooting from the hip here, have you checked the screen resolution (LCD Density)? Should be at 240. There's apps out there to help finding that (Jrummys Rom Toobox app is a winner!) and Root Explorer. If you go via Root Explorer it's in system/build.props hard press buil.props to get a plethora of options and "Open In Text Editor", make sure the little grey box at the top left is "Mount R/O" before doing so or your not getting in. Once in scroll down till you read "ro.sf.lcd_density=???", the numbers should be 240.

you can edit them there.

or if you have an app similar to the toolbox above the process is done just by moving a slider to the numbers you want, easy.

Worth a shot! Have fun guys, these roms are just toys to play with. Take them with a grain of salt!

Probably going to reflash today just to see if the torch issue still exists. It's a nuisance but it's not a deal breaker at this point. What might be a deal breaker is the wireless tether. The only option it gives you on MIUI is ad hoc which won't allow me to connect with my PS3. And I live in the country where there is no (reasonable) ISP. Looking into boot manager today because I know .605 rooted with the tether patch allowed me to connect with my PS3.

This appears to be the newest regular MIUI build for our X's. The plain, off the Defy base MIUI,(not the ICS hybrid 1.19) Do not attempt to flash this, because I believe this is the "raw" version our US devs get that become the polished builds we do get to download aka our anticipated updates.
But at least this shows progress on a ROM that has slowed down a bit. And even with Google auto translate I still couldnt make much sense of all this...

Also I don't know if anyone else saw dxcs tweet about doing a private release for the final build. Anyone know more?

I'm hoping it's for those that have donated. :-) I'd buy this update.

Has anyone figured out a way to tether to a kindle? The kindle says that it does not support peer to peer tethering. Wondering if there is a work around.

Just wait till flashing roms to the kindle come out, CM9/ICS just around the corner for the Kindle.

So odd because in the beginning at least when I joined that genre in September, he was the idol of us all for MIUI. Good thing my ICS MIUI is still running well, lol
