Mkv video files

So i downloaded a video player that supports the mkv format. The app is arcsoft. The file isnt too large, as its a tv show, so 70 mb tops. When i try to play it, the video is laggy and the sound comes and goes. Any suggestions on how to watch these videos on my tab?

in case anybody else needs help with this, all i did is change the audio frequency to 44,100 hz under settings.

Why are videos so choppy from time to time? It looks like im streaming a video to my tab that is actually on the sd card.
