Moto g 2nd gen android 6.0 update

Hey everyone new to this site and I am wondering Motorola said that they have released android 6.0 marshmallow for the moto g 2nd gen. I have the moto g 2nd gen xt1064 stock android never rooted so what I am wondering is how do I update to marshmallow because everytime I check for the update it says your device is up to date.

Welcome to Android Central! Was it originally from a carrier, or did you get it direct from Motorola? If it was originally from a carrier, then you have to make sure you're on the same carrier network in order to get the system update.

It was originally from a friend who was on consumer cellular I then chose to put my cricket wireless sim card on there

I'm in the same situation. I'm on Consumer Cellular and have not recieved Marshmallow on my XT1068. I decided to install CM12.1 on it and am waiting for a stable release of 13.0. I think this is the route you'll want to take as well, as I'm not sure we will ever get the update.
