Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

I bought one this week. I was surprised by its comfortable size, yet big enough screen, and the plethora of useful features (I can't live without active display or contextual awareness now). I wish they won't ignore neither for the new one.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

I am curious as to how they got 24 GB of storage on there?

That's got me scratching my head as well. Very odd.I also would have liked to see a RAM bump to 3 GB, but I'm digging the idea of a 5.2" screen. Seems like a pretty good balance of big but not too big. Especially if they fit it into another sleek form factor.

They obviously won't be getting rid of Active Display, Touchless Control, etc. In fact they will very likely improve upon those features even more.

I agree. Though stranger things have happened in the past. But I must say the size is also a big factor, the phone feels perfect in my hand. I guess the trend is to go bigger these days.

Mine will be for sale when this new one comes out. Always in a case & with a screen protector. 32gb on Verizon. Perfect condition. No personal message on the back either.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

The 24GB of storage is very strange. I'm not overly impressed/happy with the increase in screen size, since that means a bigger device and more battery drain. This also means a bigger battery, but if it's only there to power a larger screen I don't see that as an improvement. Then again, big screens are in, and those of us who don't like holding phablets to our faces may soon be out of luck in the top end Android sphere. :(

One could argue that by going crazier with edge-to-edge, going to a 5.2" might not make the device significantly larger.

But I think there's a reason why the Moto X and Moto G are so similar in physical size even though it's a 4.7" vs. 4.5" screen.

Visual Phone Size Comparison

It seems like Motorola feels that the around 5" tall, 2.6" wide, and 0.45" thick is a sweet spot for the typical hand. A true Moto X successor, based on everything that Motorola has said so far about "feel in the hand", would likely have the same dimensions in my opinion.

We do know a phone likely called the Moto E is right around the corner. And the DROID ULTRA/MAXX will likely get refreshed around the same time as the X. I'm guessing a 5.2" phone for the Moto line would probably be Moto Z.

Well, unfortunately, it IS larger. (I've held it).

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

And when will this 6 inch version be released?
Don't know. Sounded like they would be around the same time, but maybe not. Stereo speakers anyone?

2 versions of the 5" X+1.

5.2" is very big. The LG G2 has very thin bezels and it just to big. I hope they don't go this big for the next Moto X.

Keep the same rough physical dimensions as the Moto X.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

The design makes it easier to hold than other 5" phones, but it was still too big for my tastes. :(

The current X is perfect.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

The appeal of this phone just gets better with every release/announcement of new devices, even it's own successor. I'll be happily holding onto mine for quite awhile of they are going bigger

How big are the side bezels? Top bezels?

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

Yeah, as I said in the other thread, you pretty much have to have the entire front be screen if a 5.2" screen fits on a form factor anywhere near the moto x.

http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x2/377477-moto-x2-4-7-vs-5-screen-2.html#post3606638

A 5.2" screen is 115.1 x 64.8mm, and the Moto X is 129.3 x 65.3mm. I doubt the technology is even there to do it.

Re: Possible Moto X successor spotted in benchmarks!

The G2 has a 5.2" screen with onscreen buttons, and has (I think) the highest screen to total surface area ratio of any phone ever. LG achieved that by putting buttons on the back instead of the sides. If Moto were to copy that they could perhaps do as good a job as LG at keeping the size relatively compact, but no reason to think they are doing so. More likely they keep the buttons on the sides, and the phone is physically larger than the G2.
