Moto X (1st gen) 5.1 Lollipop: Smart Lock with Active Notifications - swipe screen still required?

After using a few lolipop devices with smart lock enabled, I have found that its still necessary to swipe the lock screen away.

I'm wondering if the moto X running 5.1 with Moto Display enabled solves this need to go through the screen swipe to unlock the phone when in a trusted environment. Basically what I'm looking for is
1) pickup the phone - clock shows and unclock icon shows up
2) swipe up
3) i'm in

After using the moto x for that last few years, I'm spoiled and I don't think I can go back to more operations to actually use my phone

Ok so I got the update and yeah, Moto display removed the swipe screen for us. That said, if you turn on the phone with the power button you get the swipe screen. Bummer.
Otherwise, lollipop is running pretty well on this dirty flashed phone!
