Moto X 2014 Can the front facing IR sensors be turned off?

I've read quite a few articles regarding IR sensor beams, and the consensus seems to be that they are not meant to be pointed at the eyes. The moto x has three of them, constantly beaming toward the user's face when looking at the phone, you can see them when taking a video of the phone, even when the phone is in sleep mode. I was wondering of you could turn these off by switching off the active notification feature? Anyone know? Thanks.

I read a review on the new moto with a section on how to save battery life. Along with using a black colored wallpaper and turning off bluetooth when not in use it stated that turning off the auto motion wake feature would save the battery, but I am not sure if this also turns off the firing of the IR sensors.

Where have you ever seen anything saying an IR sensor is unhealthy? It is really low powered light, and you see IR all the time (from everything)?

Would you mind showing me an article where it says that the IR sensors are harmful?

I've seen countless articles about things such as phone radiation from the radio and how it could affect our well being, but reports like this are often conflicted.

Unless there is sufficient evidence backed up by credible people I wouldn't worry the slightest about the Moto X front facing sensors.

Don't take them too seriously, it's extremely likely that disabling the sensor probably won't have a drastic improvement in battery life.
