I'm travelling to UK, Ireland and France for a few weeks with my MOTO X pure addition. Anyone know if I can buy a SIM card overseas and use it, if so, what band do I need? Very new to travelling with a cell phone, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to say most likely buy a sim from any gsm type mobile company and you should be fine

I have traveled overseas extensively and as as long as your device supports GSM bands 900/1800 (for plain old GSM) and 2100 (for UMTS/HSPA) which the Moto X 2014 does you are good to go.

LTE is a little trickier as not all prepaid plans support LTE yet and Europe uses different bands than North America as well, having said that the Moto X 2014 does support some European LTE bands,so you may be in luck there.

So, baring LTE compatibility which is not required, you are good to go in any European country.
