Moto X 2014 Peeling wood backs and my options now...

Re: Peeling wood backs and my options now...

You have one year of manufacturer defects. So if it lifts and actually Peels like a banana you can return it.

This. It's considered a manufacturing defect, so you can return it for a replacement within a year under the standard warranty. If you want it refunded, you only have 14 days in most places in the US (California and other countries will differ, check your local laws).

Oh good to know! Thought I only had a 14 day window

Re: Peeling wood backs and my options now...

I ended up buying the bamboo version despite of all the ruckus about "peeling"... I couldn't help it because I fell in love with this unique design.

Here in Brazil we don't have Moto Maker so I think it's going to be different from your experiences. The phones can not be customized and I think this may solve the adhesive problem.

I will update it when I get my bamboo!

Re: Peeling wood backs and my options now...

So I contacted Moto about a replacement, they had me take a picture and show what that problem was. One of the corners is lifting and getting a good amount of wear/damage because the wood is getting caught up on things. It is lifted enough that my fingernail can catch it and I hope they can see it in the picture because I'm pretty upset with it and hope its sooner than later. Will post back when they contact me.

Any update? I'm going through the same process?

Oh hah I forgot to get back to all of you. I took pictures, they verified it of lifting and gave me a new code to order a new one. I did have to call a few times to show that I was on top of the process , but it all worked out and my new bamboo has no sign of lifting yet...

Awesome! Same for me. Ordered my new leather one yesterday!

Re: Peeling wood backs and my options now...

Leather just isn't me. I also wanted a phone with good resell value. Aka plastic ages better with wear and tear.

I disagree. I think leather ages really beautifully. I ordered teak wood, but will definitely get leather if it happens to me. I'm actually not surprised to hear this. The wood is so thin, it wants to flatten back to its normal stage. Good luck!

Btw, I would be interested in buying a used leather backing, if someone wants to part with theirs.
