Moto-x opened back, little piece of metal fell out, where does it go?

[Android Central Question]

Battery says charging but always at 0% so I opened it up to look at the battery. As I was opening the case this narrow little piece of metal with a 90 degree bend on the long side,fell out. I cant figure out where it goes. I watched videos of disassembly and no one shows this part. Its a little shorter than the power button but didnt show up in the videos when they removed the buttons. Can anyone help me?
Additionally recently I replaced the battery as the original didnt hold a charge long. This battery seemed ok today then I took it out to use it and it was dead and will not charge. i see the lightening bolt but it wont get past 0%. I had charged it all night as usual and it never runs out of power. Kind of sudden death!

Update: I found if you remove the battery and have the phone plugged in it still reports charging and 0% charged. Knowing that I removed the tape at the bottom of the battery and found the ribbon cable has 4 solder joints and 1 had broken. I resoldered the joint and it began to charge again! I had not seen this solution for the 0% charging problem anywhere on the internet. It is especially relevant to anyone who has replaced a battery . The manufacture tapes the battery to the motherboard for a reason, to keep it from slipping around if it is dropped.
I still need to know what the little 9mm piece of silver colored metal is. The phone seems to be working fine without it. It is flat on one long side of the 90 degree bend and has several little fingers of metal on the other long side. Each side of the bend is about 1mm wide. 2 of these fingers form a partial circle like it clipped around something
