Moto's Bionic is Dead?

Yes it does. The Bionic as we know it will be launched. There may be slight spec differences, but the design will be the same.

Here's what I expect to see changed:

-OMAP dual core instead of Tegra 2 (maybe Snapdragon?)
-1 gig DDR (doubt DDR2 will make the cut)
-Perhaps a different power management system

Sorry, no way they retool a motherboard for a different CPU and launch in q3, just isn't gonna happen with a large company like Motorola. This has to be something they already have in the testing phase to make that launch timeframe.

Who's to say they haven't already done it? I mean, let's get real here; if the issue has been plaguing the Bionic since it started widespread testing, they would have been working on it since then. That and did anyone ever consider that Tegra 2 wasn't their first choice to begin with? The only reason they used it was because the Atrix was using it too. Maybe they prototyped it with an OMAP4 a while ago?

moto or any other large manufacturer could absolutely accomplish this. what experience are basing your opinion on? but, i agree with droid800, i think they have had something working for a while.

Experience working for a fortune 500 company supporting product launches. Could they do it? Of course. Will they? Highly doubtful because of the qc and testing cycles they have to go through, not to mention any certifications that have to be redone.

All of us believe they have had something in the works for a while, it's just that some of us believe that something is codenamed Targa and some of us don't.

Apparently Motorola doesn't either. Or did you not read the statement they gave WSJ?

I have to respectfully disagree.

The statement says that "many had speculated that the Droid Bionic was scrapped in favor of another model".

If they were not keeping the Bionic shell, i don't believe they would have made that particular statement as it was directly referring to the rumor that the droid was being scrapped for the Targa.

Just my two cents...

PR Speak Translation:
"We will be launching A phone that is called the Droid Bionic and there will be no press release in the future saying: 'Motorola is pleased to announce that the Droid Bionic has been replaced by the Droid Superfreak'"

Nothing in that statement rules out a form factor change of the phone.

Has anyone considered the possibility that new features is gb at launch? Or maybe just an update to the LTE radio? I don't think the Tegra is the issue. TB and now Bionic have had issues and the common factor has been LTE. @droidlanding is starting up again so I think we will are more on the droid charge very soon. Haven't heard much delays there so it wouid be interesting to are what Sammy did that HTC and Motorola did not.

From what's been stated by vzw and motorola insiders the Tegra2 and lte have been the issue since the end of last year. I hope part of the delay is for gb because at this point their is no reason for it to be released with froyo. But I'm not an insider just spewing wild speculation

I hope you are right. Gingerbread with 1Gb DDR2 Ram!!!

And none of that webtop nonsense. That will certainly kill the appeal for me. Increase in RAM will be negligible if they defile the device with WebTop. Talk about a huge letdown .....

Lol... I am not paying up just yet. I am still in Denial. ID rather trust the no name customer service rep that responded to my email than Becki Leonard... I mean c'mon who would trust this source???? Just because she is the Global PR Manager- Software & Technology at Motorola Mobility doesn't mean she knows anything right???

I do not care about the Web top and Laptop dock. All I want is the car dock and the regular Dock to plug it into the TV.

*Sheds a tear*

Here is the first post I have seen that says they are indeed changing the form factor of the phone...

Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date Delay: Verizon Problems (Update) ? Phone Reviews

This really upsets me too. I don't want the humpty-hump. Absolutely despise it. So much so that it's just about a deal breaker for me. I'm really gonna have to rethink what I'm going to do. Looks like the Thunderbolt, Charge, and Revolution are all going to get much more of my attention. Sucks too 'cause I really liked the hardware specs on the Bionic.
