MS Surface -big fail or serious competitor?

One problem with Pro tablets (I believe...someone correct me if I'm wrong) is that they will only be able to use intels integrated gpu. $800+ is a lot to pay considering you can get a decent laptop with a second tier discreet gpu for about that price.

The whole point is that it's a tablet, not a laptop.

Once you start getting into a dedicated GPU machine, you're talking more weight and less battery life than you want in a tablet anyway. Similar pricepoint yes, but very different function. If you want a machine for serious (traditional) gaming or media editing, a tablet is not the way to go.
