My Apps - Auto Update - Always enabling its self without my consent

I have it to update only on WiFi and it seems to help a lot.:D

I had a similar problem. Apps were automatically downloading even though the Auto update apps setting was set to "Do not update...". Turns out the problem was my daughter logged into her Google account on my phone to download games.

In the upper left hand corner of the Google Play screen, tap "Play Store" and a menu expands. At the top of the menu is your gmail email address. To the right of that is a drop down arrow. Click the drop down arrow and see if there's another account there. If there is, that's likely your problem. Just go into the phone settings, then Accounts & sync and remove that other Google account.

Re: updates apps without consent

go to play store hit bottom left on phone bringing up a menu with settings - touch on "Auto update apps" turn it off - had the same problem

hey buddy, don't you see that we all did that already and this thread is actualy the reason of that. Guys stop thinking we're all retarded and just read our post correctly before saying stupid things

After the latest (forced) Samsung update, my phone does the same. However many times I tell it not to update, as soon as it is rebooted it resets to update over wifi only. The new Samsung update has actually screwed so many things on my phone (not to mention the bloatware) that I will be going back to iPhones after this one. Meanwhile there is is little option but to root the phone and still have some control over an item that I paid hundreds of pounds for. And yes, please don't treat people as morons when they ask a question!

Google has also become far more controlling. I only have the one google account and I've disabled the sync. Admittedly there may be different solutions for different Android phones, but the problem seems fairly generic with Samsung at least. With this bug, you cannot even choose not to update the bloatware. If you are very quick in going to 'do not auto-update' after a re-boot it may have some success, but sometimes it will auto update before giving you access to anything else. Both Samsung and Google now repeatedly ask you to agree to terms no-one reads before you can use the facilities. (Currently while I'm travelling they do so in a foreign language as well... Ahhh and we used to think Microsoft was bad...)

Hello,

I've had my S4 for a couple of days and i've noticed that when ever i restart the phone or swap out battery, as soon as the phone starts again and connects via wifi, it proceeds to update all my out of date apps despite the fact i've told it not too.

Anyone else have this problem?

It's really bloody annoying, is this some sort of way to force us to update apps or just a bug?

A lot of apps get worse with updates, remove features that were once free, introduce new bugs etc, so i only ever update them individually after i've read the recent reviews.

Thankfully i've got a backup of my apps on my old phone in which i migrated from but i would like to see this problem resolved.

Thanks for listening

Paul

I have an LG Stylo and I have the same issue. I have the same issue with every Android phone I've ever owned. I've never change the settings on the phone and I still get certain apps that pushed you updates like everything Google owns, or Facebook, or apps from big companies. Things that are free that have a lot of guys also. I'm constantly uninstalling updates. If anybody knows it a solution to this problem I would love to know it.
