My Battery Life Sucks!

Obviously, it's not the phone itself, but the apps you have installed. Did you try running it with just the standard apps for a day to see if it's normal before you add everything back? You can't expect different results if you are setting it up the same way every time. Being new has nothing to do with it. People are suggesting factory resets to get rid of the rogue apps causing this huge battery drain. Start adding apps slowly until you find the culprit.
I mentioned in prior post when putting it in safe mode then taking it out. My Nova launcher screens and all get wiped. I've already tried factory reset and I use this phone for work and it's quite time consuming.

My biggest issue with the battery is that I set it up just how I had my Pixel 2XL and I am not getting close to the battery life I was getting on the Pixel 2 XL. I have done 2 factory resets on the Note and it will run great for about 2-3 weeks with Android Systems taking up 3-4% of the battery than about 2-3 weeks after the factory reset Andorid Systems starts to take up 10-13% of the battery, so the stand by and SOT starts to drop a lot.

I think it's a Samsung issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n46s_iF_IV4

I also see the Android system absorbing 15% or more of the battery. I have not yet done a FR.

Does anyone ever bother to go into their apps and manage them?

Most of this "Android System" battery usage is really your downloaded apps running services in the background.

Any application that is not essential you need to go in and one by one turn off Background Data.
You will be alarmed at just how much data some of these apps suck up in the background while you are not using your phone.

For any app, especially any freaking game or news app, I go in and turn off both notifications and background data.

This is the cause of 90% of peoples real battery issue.

I understand but my point is that I had a pixel 2xl, set up my note 9 the same way and I'm not getting close to the same as the pixel 2xl. You buy a $1000 phone and you shouldn't have to than not allow any apps to run. Also, when I have done a factory reset, set up my phone how it was the battery life is great for 2-3 weeks than something happens on Samsung phones that make the battery start to drain faster. I don't download new apps in that 2-3 week period.

Believe me i have majority of my apps in sleep mode so they don't run in the background. This is the basics. My phone standby is awful I put it in airplane mode last night and went from 100-92 over 7 hour span. It shouldn't drain like that at all. If it's in airplane mode it shouldn't even loose that much. 2 weeks prior I put it in airplane mode and it only lost 2 percent. I didn't change or do anything different between that time. Battery life overhyped I feel like I have my note 8 all over again.

So you want less than 1% use of battery life per hour?

Not realistic expectations.

I dunno I use the crap out of my phone and it easily gets me through a day, and that is with only charging it to 80-85% to begin with.

That's incorrect I've had plenty of times where battery has minimal standby drain overnight. Shouldn't drain much at all when it's in airplane mode while I'm asleep.

See screenshot below. Even when I'm not using it standby drain is a joke. I have Android system set to not run in the background. Somehow still using 5 percent. I run device maintenance at least 3 times a day. If it's a rogue app it would show up in device maintenance. I'm convinced it's not as good as advertised.Screenshot_20181101-165312_Settings.jpeg

So... Change your phone then?

If better battery life is what you want then do yourself a favour and turn off AOD

I've tried that and left it off for 5 days. Made no difference in my battery life. Appreciate the suggestion.

I have the Att N9 and they modify the software so that it doesn’t have the same level of control over WiFi and Bluetooth settings as is found in other variants. But in my case, I found that some of the default settings under connections were causing higher system battery use. I’d suggest going into settings>connections>more connection settings and turn off nearby device scanning. Also, under WiFi tap advanced and turn off network notification. For me, I have all the options under WiFi advanced turned off. Those made a big difference for me. I also turned off always listening for Bixby and google assistant. I use them but don’t need them listening all the time and using battery.

I've tried that too man lol. See screenshots below Screenshot_20181101-184244_Settings.jpegScreenshot_20181101-184053_Settings.jpeg

Every Samsung I've had after 3 weeks battery just depletes faster. Ive had other devices that don't have this issue. Samsung is clueless really
