My Bionic

Just thought I'd chime in that my local Costco had a non-functional dummy unit I got to hold. Phone is much slimmer and lighter than I thought. Very comparable to DX. Check out your Costco to see if they have one to check out!

Why do you tell me this now?! Agh. Now I have to call them tomorrow. Well I guess I need to figure out if they know how many they should be getting and such.

The kiosk employee didn't know when they were getting them in. He just said "sometime next week". The unit was one of those ones that have a real body but like a fake screen or whatever. Still cool to hold it and play with the volume rocker :)

Now I want to go to Costco tomorrow...not sure if it's open though. I really just want to HOLD one of these things, even if the screen is fake lol. Hold me over until I can get it later in the week. And I have a bad feeling I'll be seeing my Costco getting them like a few days after release

bworley,

Have you tried out the mobile hotspot function of your phone? On the rooting sub folder I asked a question regarding everyone's excitment regarding an early root of the phone for wireless tethering.

I am not sure why everyone over there is all excited about that except maybe a speed issue, but if the phone is a hotspot, which I have never tried or been around anyone who had one, why wouldn't that feature be enough for someone to work on their laptop and send a document they worked on while being connected via the mobile hotspot function of the Bionic?

I haven't tried it. Don't I have to pay for that somehow?

Does it have auto focus while recording video?

EDIT:
Never mind. Just saw the "moving vehicles" video.

Yes, you would have to pay for that. I responded to his question in another thread.

Hmmm seemed to install quick enough. But that is a huge download for the actual game is it not? I think it was like 1GB right? And you also only had 2 bars of 4G, and it was still downloading pretty quickly for poor reception.

As fast as 4G is, it's also very possible (and likely) that the bottleneck would be the download server the phone is downloading the content from, and not the ISP/network.

Took about 4 minutes on 4g. 2 bars.

That explains the excitement on the rooting thread.

Thanks

Just tried it. Says VZ can't validate right now. Makes sense.

Verizon has to unlock it when you pay them for the service. It's not really worth it...$30 extra is quite a lot. You could root and do tethering for free though.

Thanks for your helpful videos. Does the front-facing VGA camera work well with Skype videoconferencing? Thanks!
