So, my mother, completely ignorant to technology as it is, did not know or care about the Gingerbread update that hit the Droid X recently. I, bullheaded as I am, thought that seems not right, and did a little prodding to get her to update. (I figured Netflix would be a good carrot on a stick. Yes, I know there's APKs that anyone can download that work on "unapproved devices", but do you really think I'm going to point my technologically inept mother to XDA-Developers?)
Of course, being the guy in the family that everyone comes to for computer problems, she comes to me and says that her phone is getting worse battery life. She how she hasn't done anything differently (the only app she ever downloaded was Romote, IIRC, and I had to talk her through setting that one up... never again will I force a family member to check a router's settings). She hasn't installed any new apps... I, honestly, don't know what to tell her. Has anyone else noticed a change in battery life on Gingerbread? Anything I could recommend my mother that I won't have to do tech support for later?

Well there's always Juice Defender. But from the sounds of it, you'd better set her up for it and then tell her not to touch it. I have JD Ultimate and I went from 930p last nite to almost 6p today with moderate usage. So I can imagine on stock(I'm on a .596 sbf)without JD I would not have made it that far. I plug in usually when I get the 10% remaining warning and charge it to full then plus 10mins cuz I have a custom battery.

BTW - Funny youtube channel you got there. Super Mario RPG haha

My battery decreased by about 25% after the update. I've tried several synching options but ultimately need to have my email and notifications a 100% of the time. I bought a dock to solve my issue but am disappointed that I had to.

On stock rooted Froyo, I was getting a full day of use and only charging at night. I updated Saturday night to GB. My battery completely drained yesterday around 6pm and today it was down to 10% by 5 pm. I charged it this evening. about 75 minutes ago I took it off the charger and started uninstalling almost every app I had (20 or so). since unplugging it less than an hour and a half ago, I am down to 84% battery. Something is wrong.

The first few days after installing the rooted .596 I had some issues with battery life, it seemed a bit shorter than on Froyo. However, I cleared the battery stats and completely discharged the battery until it shut down, then full charged it back up while the phone was off. I did this twice, and it made a huge improvement. I am getting 36-48 hours out of a charge, with a screen on (in use playing games/texting/web) time of 5 hours or more. That is not counting voice calls.

I seem to no longer be able to clear my battery stats anymore when I go into the bootstrap. Instead of clearing, when I press the camera button to enter, I just get taken to the previous screen.
