My Moto X Battery gains charge without connecting to charger.

Once i heavily use my phone and leave it idle it gains the charge without connecting to the charger. Some times it gains 4-5 % also. How does it happen?

The battery isn't calibrated 100%. The percentage is off a tiny bit, and when system checks with the battery again, it adjusts the battery percentage, therefore making it appear higher and lower than before.
