My Phone Was Stolen

If the box was sealed up then it was an inside job or they were in such a rush that it is possible they forgot to put a phone in it. If it doesn't look tampered then it happened at the distribution center. Someone ordered from Samsung and had the same thing happen to them. Some said this happened to the new iPhones sometimes too.

It was an inside job. The box was raggedy. There was some other suspect stuff with the tracking number. I'll probably try to get one in a store, come Monday...or just reorder.

They really should do something other than making you reorder. Like get one out to you with overnight shipping or something. A sealed box with no phone is not a good look for them.

They're not going to do that. They're not responsible for the shipment. FedEx is. FedEx needs to get me a phone...lol

So sorry this happened to you. This is everyone's worst nightmare as the FedEx / UPS drivers know that there is a new release phone in these boxes. Every time my FedEx hands me a new phone he says nice, new iPhone, Galaxy time.

That's a big assumption with no proof. And although a few could be criminals to imply all are criminals is ludicrous. And I know a fedex driver and she has stated she's too busy to look at return addresses and size of boxes.

Going to the store Friday is probably your best bet. I was in my local Verizon store today getting a screen cover and the guy said they have 4 ultras for release day that aren't spoken for.

Nope. It's not an assumption. FedEx confirmed it was stolen by an employee. I just got off the phone with them.

AT&T has to release my upgrade...that won't happen till Monday. I would have to get a second line, and then have everything switched over, if I do it Friday. I'm not going thru all that. I'll check on Monday. If there's no phones available, I'll just reorder.

I knows there's not much you can do about it, but you're being very gracious about the whole thing. I really hope they're able to weed out the culprit. Wishing for a quick resolution.

Well if the box was sealed, that would lead me to think that it was someone at ATT that was responsible and they are on the hook to rectify

Oh I didn't see this till now. That's crazy that it was a FedEx employee that stole it. I'm sorry you gotta go through this especially since you were the one that was helping us all calm down when we were getting antsy

A few years ago I shipped out a OOAK expensive item that was in a large, heavy 24" X 24" X 24" box that just disappeared and was never delivered via FedEx.
I had $2,400.00 worth of insurance on it. After FedEx security went on the hunt they actually had FedEx contractors on video taking my box out of the building and putting it into their own personal truck. They were arrested and one confessed that they believed there were drugs in the box and that's why they stole it. Once they opened it and there were no drugs they threw it in a dumpster and it was never found.

FedEx sent me a check for the $2,400 but what a complete nightmare.

Wow. That was a nightmare. If I showed you the tracking history of the phone that got stolen, it would be very evident something fishy was going on. It's probably a theft ring, and nobody is paying attention to the tracking history, and the hope you're not either.

Cell phone theft by couriers is not rare. I don't know why folks are shocked. It's the first time I've knowingly experienced it. But they see all the boxes coming thru, and the origin addresses. They know the boxes contain phones.

When I order a phone, I'm normally very chill. The only thing that triggered me to bug FedEx is the tracking history didn't make sense - my phone left my local facility, and went back and forth between my local hub and Ohio...3 times.

That is just awful. I am sooo sorry that happens to you. I hope there is a good outcome.

Is there any indication what's in these boxes? Is Samsung written on the boxes or is it obvious what's in those boxes?

Not sure about Fedex drivers but the UPS ones many make over 100k a year, especially if you do OT. I doubt they'd risk that over a phone. The low pay warehouse box chuckers I can see them doing that.

From what these stories on here are sounding like it's someone at the phone's distribution center either in a hurry or internal theft.

With the labor shortage right now it's possible they've lowered the hiring standards at these places so you might be getting people with criminal convictions doing the work and selling the phones.

Hear about this? You hear about USPS workers doing this from time to time. Mail men dumping their mail.

They know by the shape of the box, and the origin addresses....where the boxes are coming from. Thieves know when new phones are released and they pay attention to when they start shipping. It's not hard to figure out. They have to know those things, because thievery is their livelihood. There's an influx of phones.

Sometimes there's entire theft rings.

If that's the case it's those low paid warehouse workers. They're probably applying for jobs there on purpose to use it as theft. As I said in other posts the labor shortage probably making them hire felons now.

Wow, sorry to hear this. When I read a day or two ago that they told you that it was "ineligible" for pick-up, I thought that was really odd. I never heard that before. At least it got resolved in the sense that you know what happened. It's not consolation but it would further **** me off not knowing exactly where the crime occured. Hope you get yours soon enough.

Agree - they absolutely know when there is a phone release: at least the ones that pay attention to this stuff. I recall a few years back, a FedEx guy giving me my package told me to enjoy my iPhone. They know.
