My Phone Was Stolen

Wow. That was a nightmare. If I showed you the tracking history of the phone that got stolen, it would be very evident something fishy was going on. It's probably a theft ring, and nobody is paying attention to the tracking history, and the hope you're not either.

Cell phone theft by couriers is not rare. I don't know why folks are shocked. It's the first time I've knowingly experienced it. But they see all the boxes coming thru, and the origin addresses. They know the boxes contain phones.

When I order a phone, I'm normally very chill. The only thing that triggered me to bug FedEx is the tracking history didn't make sense - my phone left my local facility, and went back and forth between my local hub and Ohio...3 times.
Yikes! I'm also from Ohio, so this is very close to home. I'm sorry to hear this. I would think that FedEx should be responsible for getting you a phone ASAP. I'd expect a large shipping company to have insurance to cover that for customers, then let them have law enforcement take care of the criminal or criminals.

Would Amazon be safer to order from? Or Best Buy and have in store pick up.

Best Buy???? Never. Have you seen the Best Buy threads? Bring popcorn and drinks.

Nope. I can order again from AT&T. Thieves are everywhere. I'm going to talk to a manager at AT&T. I'm too tired right now.

Or you can wait and order after the phone is released or buy it at Best Buy once they have stock in store.

It's hard to buy at a carrier store now as they only carry a few models of each phone now, even after release they will only have a few models at the store and want you to order.

The reason why is because cell stores were getting robbed a lot. That's a lot of money to have sitting inside a store. The last few years due to theft the carrier stores are cutting down on in store inventory.

I'm kinda suspicious about ours also the CSR at Verizon today said both of our phone were shipped in the same box never had that happen and said it was to be delivered today but shows out for delivery but in Indianapolis even though the address show my North Texas Melissa address.

Oh no, what a nightmare! I am so sorry.
:(

When our phones were delivered, the FedEx employee said, 'Looks like you have a couple of new phones here!' He was a nice guy, but yes, they definitely know.

I truly hope this is resolved to your satisfaction & that you will be enjoying your new phone soon...

They really should do something other than making you reorder. Like get one out to you with overnight shipping or something. A sealed box with no phone is not a good look for them.

It's not AT&Ts fault, doesn't really make them look bad. Besides if the phones are on backorder yet for the pre orders, they probably have very few if any phones for their shelves and couldn't replace it if they wanted.

Yep. See below. Start with the bottom screenshot first. FedEx was showing two items, with the same tracking number, which is odd... and the other item is showing in Romulus, with no movement. Shows as "pending" with no movement.

That's a big assumption with no proof. And although a few could be criminals to imply all are criminals is ludicrous. And I know a fedex driver and she has stated she's too busy to look at return addresses and size of boxes.

They know what's in the boxes. When I bought my Pixel 2 XL the driver initially tried to deliver during the work day. I'm single, live alone, the phone required a signature. He came back in the evening, his comment was "I know what this is, I figured you'd want it tonight". I was actually preparing to drive to local distribution center to pick it up, after confirming it would be there.

Courier theft definitely is not rare. It happened to me with my note 20. Fed ex was no help. Everytime I called they kept telling me that the carrier said he dropped it off and that I had to go through At&t. When I called at&t they kept telling me that they have to investigate and to keep going through fed ex to fix it.

After 7 days of fussing, cussing, and threatening at&t finally sent me another one. That was my first time going through this so I had no idea I was supposed to do a police report. I just wanted my phone that they were about to start trying to make me pay for. It was a mess and I know it's a pain to deal with. Hopefully this all gets fixed for you soon.

I also went through an issue where someone at USPS stole my note 10 + I was trading in. That took a while to fix. I kept getting threatening emails about att charging me for the phone and I kept calling after every email. They kept lying and saying I wouldn't get charged up until they charged me for that list phone. I'm so glad I kept all the records of the tracking of the phone and who all I talked to when it came up missing.

It was AT&T. They're taking care of that, but now I have to reorder. I probably won't get my phone till end of March.

What a terrible thing to have happened! Man! Some people are just awful. So glad you have a plan in place to still get your new phone. Keep us posted on what happens!

I always keep track of my tracking information when sending out a phone and receiving one. I'll even take a picture of the box before I send it out. I still have pictures of Note 7 before I sent it back. And I still have pictures of all my phones the day before I send them back for my trade ins.

It is a shame that this happened, and I too would be extremely POed.

When I send my two S21 phones back (USPS) on trade-in, I am insuring them both for full trade-in value ($800 each).

I feel absolutely awful for you, not only for the disappointment of not having the phone in the box but of the hassle you have to go through to get the phone replaced. It's likely that your phone wasn't the only one on your run stolen, so FedEx knows an employee is responsible. It looks like our phones traveled together to Romulus.

Isn't that a waste of money? If they agree that you really sent the phone and that it disappeared after you handed the package to USPS, then you have no liability, because the shipper is Samsung, not you (it's Samsung's shipping label); so at that point, it was stolen from Samsung, not from you. On the other hand, if they think you fraudulently sent a phoneless box, then your insurance isn't going to cover it. So either way, the insurance doesn't help.
