My Phone Was Stolen

Sadly, I can add my recent experience to this message board. Just last week I sent a trade-in to Samsung as part of my s22 ultra purchase. My wife is a faithful note user (from as far back as the days of the note edge!) and she has been waiting patiently for an upgrade for her Note 20 ultra. Thankfully, I did receive her s22 ultra just last week but unfortunately it looks like my trade-in box with the Note 20 was opened by someone with FedEx somewhere along the way to Coppell Tx and it's contents were removed. I just received a notice from Samsung that I will now be charged for my trade-in. FedEx says that since Samsung was the original account generator for the shipping label they will have to file a claim regarding my missing trade-in device. Samsung told me that they have a video showing that my trade-in box was empty when they received it and it even showed signs of damage to the inside of the box. I am upset and disappointed but since it's for my wife I am ok with paying extra to get her a new phone. She is worth it to me. She actually had a heart attack a few months ago and her cardiologist says that she may not be around this time next year. She is extremely healthy and in her 40s but unfortunately this was a genetic issue passed down from her mother. There were a few warning signs but she is a professional and works very hard so she kept persisting and wrote off various ailments to regular fatigue. Turns out several arteries to her heart were already blocked. She is stable now but the damage to her heart is likely permanent at this point. The way I see it if I l can bring her a little bit of joy with a new note then it's worth it to me to pay a little more for it. Anyway I just wanted to chime in that there is definitely something going on with FedEx and I would be careful guys if you are trying to trade-in a device. It may not make it through FedEx.
Sorry about that. My trade in via FedEx is stuck as well. It was supposed to be delivered to Texas yesterday (Tuesday) but didn't and currently sitting in delivery date pending. I mailed in from Seattle last Wednesday and the last scan was on Saturday in Oregon. After that no scans or anything. I called FedEx today and they opened a case ID. They said the package hasn't reached Texas yet and if it's not delivered by next Monday, then I should provide the case ID to Samsung. Definitely not looking good and looks like I might have to fight this one with Samsung if they charge me because of FedEx screw up.

Maybe Samsung should start labeling its packages as "urinary catheter replacements" or "breastmilk containers" to make them less enticing.:-\

This is why I take videos and pictures of boxing up the phone for doing the trade in... I been having second thoughs of just keeping my Note 10+ and paying the rest for the new phone...

Reading this thread makes me want to just stick with Apple since I have no issues buying iPhones on release day in-store and Best Buy in-store for my Samsung fix.

In some ways, getting things delivered to your home is great and very convenient when it goes well. But when something is stolen, or isn't delivered, they make you jump through a ton of hoops and (purposely?) make it difficult for you to get a refund.

Ok this is getting ridiculous!!!!! I've never seen so many phones get stolen or "lost" during a launch. Join the club. I'm nervous about ordering again. I might have to get it shipped to my parents. Everything always makes it there. Lol

Didn't Samsung change distrubutors last year? Before it was Digital River they used. From the sounds of these the shipping boxes are not tampered with in most cases. Again, this means it's internal theft at the distributor. With the labor shortage they probably hire lower end people with records.

I'm thinking this is theft at the distributor. A big ring going on with the people packing the phone.

Or order from Amazon. Up until recently they had the 256 and 512gb unlocked in stock. Downside is you have to wait until release day and no trade ins but more piece of mind.

In all my years of being in this forum I dont think I've ever seen so many phones get stolen in a release. This is crazy.

Package delivered by FedEx a little while ago. Opened package immediately and no phone. Chased down FedEx driver and refused delivery. Took some pictures and now I have to deal with Samsung, AT&T, and probably FedEx.

Wow...Unreal. Maybe in the future the phone will need a unique unlock code that gets emailed separate to the purchaser and the only way that the phone can be activated and put in use is with that unique code making the phone completely useless to anyone other then the person who has that activation code.

Mine has been stuck in limbo at one location the entire week. SMH...

That's what I'm thinking as well. The box was sealed. Didn't look tempered with. I'm surprised there hasn't been a story about this.

I think that's a little unfair to say. Not all people with records continue to do stuff. Some change. I wouldn't be surprised if the people doing it had no record and that's why no one suspects anything. They know the blame will go directly to the " lower end " people.

Like I said a new distributor, different people. You would think lots of new iphones would be stolen since theyre very popular at release

Yeah this is a first for me as well as a lot of people. Hopefully I'll get the phone this time. My GF already has hers. I'm guessing this is only an Ultra problem.

The absolute worst part of this is having to deal with Samsung's horrible customer service. I get it things happen, but it's ridiculous. Looking back I should have just refused delivery when I saw the box wasn't big enough to possibly hold a tablet.

The lack of actual service for the customers is the worst part of all of this. Living in a rural area with limited shopping venues, I rely on delivery for many things. Have for a long time, but even more during last 2 years, as is case for most people. My FedEx, UPS and USPS delivery people are some of my community I know best. Things have happened with deliveries before, even a couple high dollar ones (not quite as much as the phone), but never have the companies put the nidus solely on me to prove I did not get the items in question. Nor have I gotten so much run around quite as bad as this. Kind of brings what we might call "city troubles" to my neck of the woods.

I hate it for everyone who has had their (pre)ordered or trading in phones/tablets stolen, "lost" or whatever!! I appreciate that we can share our experiences and realize it is not only us going through it! It is just a phone in reality. Good for me to remind myself of that. At this point, I am simply along for the crazy ride.

Here is hoping your wife survives a long time. I nearly died in 2019 aged 45 and it makes you re-evaluate life. My husband got me a 6 Pro to keep me happy. The love of a good man (person) makes a huge difference.

Wow, I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm also very surprised that the driver let you refuse delivery after you'd already signed for the package, taken possession, and opened it outside the driver's view.
